Hey Dolan, sorry to hear you've got issues.

Normally with a matched set of pickups (59b - 59n) the neck pickup will be louder because the string excursion (movement) is greater over the neck pickup. More string movement, more volume. Often pairing a hotter bridge pickup like the Custom with a 59 will help to balance that out.

If the output difference between the Custom and the 59 is fairly dramatic you may have other issues besides relative output. If your guitar has the electronics access in the back of the guitar then try this easy test. Pull the access plate and with the strings vibrating, touch a piece of wire to the 59s hot lead and to the output jack. This shorts out the guitars switch and pots and sends the 59s output straight to the jack. If you notice an increase in output then you can conclude that the guitar has either a bad component or solder joint. If there is no increase in output you may still have a bad solder joint at your 59s ground point and you can check that by either using a jumper from the sheilded braid (if 1 conductor) or by resoldering the green wire if 4 conductor.

If those things fail a PGn might help but the output between all the neck model PAF type Duncans are fairly simular. If you really want a neck pickup with some attitude, try the Distortion neck model.

Screaming demon in the neck is similar to the 59. It sounds huge but it has less bass, more treble, more crunch/bite and is a pretty sweet neck pickup. It crunches but not as hard as a jb or custom would. I'd check it out if you want something a little hotter than 59, but if you want lots more crunch look at Distortion neck or others.
