No I'm not getting rid of my 412. You can pry my 412 from my cold, dead fingers
:fing2:
I need a killer speaker that can handle 50w. I want mids like a 25w greenback, but with a bigger sound than a greenback, if that's possible. Classic Marshall tone is the focus. I don't really care for the v30 or G12T-75 though.
Not trying to save a few bucks on something generic. I might just get Weber to make me something - not sure yet.
I dunno, what do you guys and gals think? Is there anything that I just have to hear before making a custom order?
Edit ********************
I just got a Classic Lead 80 from Buckeyedog (many thanks for a nice transaction
)
I don't have a cab for it yet, but I replaced one of the greenbacks in my Marshall 412 and disconnected the other speakers, to hear it by itself. It is not as midrangy as the others (greenbacks) but it is more of a full range speaker and the mids are nice just the same. I'm impressed, because I don't really care for v30s or g12h in my current marshall rig. It definitely likes to have some volume. I think it will sound really good in a ported 1x12 cabinet.
But, you guys have aroused my curiosity regarding the G12-65 also
Your advice is appreciated, fellow forum dudes
