I am retubing a Peavey Mace and was wondering what type preamp tubes it takes. It says on the back that it carries all 6L6's but nothing about pre-amp tubes.
I just picked one up for $60 bucks and it was missing 2 tubes, but still played, figured I would replace them all. Weird thing is that a couple of the tubes in it are shorter than the others, so I guess someone mismatched them.
Also will it need to be biased, and if so, how do I go about that.
Thanks
Rich is correct. The mace did have a solid state front end with a tube power section. Sorry Im not familiar with the output circuit so i cant tell you about its biasing needs. Its probably better to just take it to a tech so they can give it a once over.

I believe the Peavey's were fixed, non-adjustable bias. It's possible that you could simply use a set of say, Groove Tubes H-6s, and be in the ballpark.
You might check the Peavey Guitar Amp Forum and see if you can get some biasing information there.
