Need Wiring Help!!!!!!!

HELP!!!!!!
I wired a JB in the bridge of a Fat Strat. I first tried the green and bare to ground, and the black to 5 way, (with the red and white tied together and taped off), but it didn't work, so I reversed that scenario and it worked, except that it sounds a little thin and distorted, ESPECIALLY in the second position; sounds like it's out of phase or something. If you were wiring this guitar, what's the proper way to get this JB in the bridge?
And: will the 250k pots affect the JB, which, I think, normally take 500k's?
Thanx.

Re: Need Wiring Help!!!!!!!

If I was wiring that guitar I would have used the green as hot unless the other pickups were Duncans. I probably would have used 500k pots, at least for the volume.

Check your solder joints and if that doesn't fix up your tone you'll have to start metering components. With Strats, sometimes the solder from the switch terminal runs down to the contacts and creates problems. You can always connect the JBs green lead (hot at the moment) to the volume pots middle terminal, bypassing the guitars electronics. You can do this to confirm that the JB is ok, but the ground and red/white connections have to be good.
