negative feedback in fender reverb amps, deluxe reverb in this case

my main gigging amp is a beatup '66 dr, it sounds great. i modded it years ago using the old ground switch to remove negative feedback from the circuit. it works like its supposed to, gets brighter, gainer, and more raw and aggressive sounding. maybe a bit too aggressive sounding. can i put a cap in there somewhere to send just some highs to the feedback loop to soften them? anyone heard of or tried something like this?

I would try a potentiometer first. It's easier to fiddle around with. If you really want to get things perfect, just get some alligator clips and start throwing different caps in series with the pot.

id like to remove nfb for all but the high frequencies in one position of the switch and have the stock nfb on the other, so i dont think id need the pot?

The pot would shift the corner frequency around so that it would be easier to fine tune the effect. It wouldn't be strictly necessary, but it might mean you would need to try out less caps.

Also I would have to look at the schematic, but often times caps behave the opposite as you would think they do when in a fb loop. Look at how a Rat's loop works for example. The caps bleed treble to ground, yet the overall treble increases in the circuit.

right, so what i want is kinda a reverse presence control (but on a switch, rather than a pot). i want the highs to have neg feedback but not the bass and mids
