Neil Giraldo Guild Starfire III pickups

I just picked up a '64 Starfire III. Finish is bunged up a bit and it will need re-fretting but otherwise a nice player-grade guitar. I like Giraldo as a player and really like his tone(I know it's all in the fingers!) but in his interview with Seymour he mentions the SD pickups he retro fitted his '68 with.

Are these catalogued? If not what PUs would approximate his?

Thanks!!

Dont know the answer to your question, but wanted to say Welcome! And Neil is one of my faves!!!! Someone should be along shortly to help you out. Good luck getting that guitar up and running!! Should be awesome when you do!

Wish I could help on the pickups, as BloodRose mentioned, someone should be able to answer soon. And again, welcome to the forum!

Any chance you can post pics? Vintage Guild electrics are rare birds!

I can get some photos up when my son gets home. I'm not digital yet!

Sweet! And no worries there man! If you need a great contact to work on that old Guild forum bro Jolly introduced me to a guy named Thane who worked for Guild–does awesome restoration work on old Guilds. I'm about to take an old '76 F212XL up within the next month to get back into tip top shape. Thane is in Tennessee...don't know where you are located but if you'd his info just let me know!

I'm in Washington state but I have family in Tennessee. I may take you up on that! Thanks.

Washington is quite a ways away BUT with family in Tennessee it may work out! :) Just let me know, he had just redone an old 60s Guild Thunderbird, looked brand new but old–if that makes sense. lol

You will most likely want to get a hold of the Custom Shop as well as throw some D'Addario 12's on there.

Would it be possible to get Thane's contact? I'm in New York, but would like to talk to someone who specializes in Guilds regarding a 60s Starfire III. Thanks
