Never thought this day would come.....

Back in the mid '00s I went to a guitar show and saw it, my dream guitar. I picked it up and played a few chords, played some lead lines, it felt amAzing and I just knew I wanted one. Since then some great guitars have come and gone but that guitar evaded me.... Until today. I want to post Pics but I'm still out but so bloody excited and amazed I've actually got it, I keep pinching myself! I'll post pics in the morning, sorry for the wait but hopefully it'll be worth it.

Yah, PRS of some sort, probably an older one; Modern Eagle was introduced after mid 1990s?

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

Just got up to look at the bloody guitar, it's 3am... Couldn't sleep... It's just like being a kid at Christmas!

Yeah you're right guys, a '05 built Modern Eagle... Signed off on my youngest sons birthday of all days! It's just awesome, it looks great (IMO) because the satin finish makes it a little understated, it feels downright SEXY!!! And acoustically it rings like a bell. Haven't had chance to play though my amps yet but I'm seriously tempted to wake the neighbourhood! Lol... So without further ado, here he is... Better pics later

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

??? The Modern Eagle wasn't introduced until 2004.

This was my understanding as well.

But it sure is a sexy guitar.

I can't really tell from the pics if it has the mixed gold/silver hardware and the rosewood neck. The neckback does look darker than the body core wood.

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

It looks very similar to my CU22 Artist, but with a fixed bridge instead of the more common trem variety - same colour too.

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

Hardware, case, rosewood neck, and finish color say Modern Eagle, and ain't no way it's a '95.

2005, maybe. But if memory serves, the first run of these all had crazy mineral streaking that took the finish weird on the bookmatched tops. PRS started sourcing the 5A maple from a different supply after that in response to customer demand. And yours looks like one of those made after the switch.

A fantastic guitar at any year, regardless.

Enjoy your kick-ass guitar. You have every reason to be excited about that one. I had a PRS McCarty with a solid rosewood neck once and it was astoundingly good.

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

A quick serial number check to PRS should do the trick. As you're in the UK, try Headline Music, their importers. They usually respond pretty quickly and may recognise the serial number as one they've imported in years past.

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

In the PRS serial numbering system, a first digit 5 could equally indicate 1985, 1995 or 2005.

Re: Never thought this day would come.....

Ha ha, sorry guys you're quite correct. It's my son who was made on 19/8/1995, the guitar was made 19/8/2005! Lol, it was 3am .. That's my excuse anyway. It is however a NOS guitar that was in hiding so I got it essentially brand new. It does have the Brazillian neck and board and Honduran mahogany back, mixed hardware and the colour is slate. Even the case is special! I will get some daylight shots in a bit when I've calmed down!
