New acoustic day

It's been a long time since I have owned and acoustic. And I never really had a decent one so I figured why not. I picked up a Taylor 114ce a few weeks ago. I liked it a lot but strangely ended up being allergic to the sapele. So I returned it and the search continued. I remembered a store I used to buy from was closing and had everything marked 40% off.
I checked out a few nice martins and gibsons but they were still out of my price range. I really liked a Taylor DN5 and almost grabbed it but I say another Taylor in the corner. And thought why not it was a DN4. I liked it just as much as the DN5 I grabbed and and the sales guy. I asked about it since I had never heard of the DN series. after some research on my phone I found out that it turned into the 410.
Same guitar just without a pick guard. So the deal was done altogether I got it for around $800 with the case. So I cannot complain went from a Mexican made 114 to a USA made with warranty and case for about the same price.

That's awesome! I love the way the top looks without a pickguard. Congrats!

Awesome, congrats on a great guitar! I've had my 414 for 12 years and going strong... amazing instruments.

Re: New acoustic day

Thanks guys having an acoustic after 10 years is a good change of pace. I am already planning on getting a 12 string and a nylon string just to have those sounds present. I also tried one of the Taylor 600 series with the flame maple back and sides that was real nice. But way out of my price range.

The nylon and 12-string are definitely nice to have... but it seems like I always end up coming back to six steel strings. Glad I have the others... they definitely fill spaces and have their own specific strengths, but I just couldn't do without the standard.

There's just something about the connection between yourself and a good acoustic guitar... no amplification or effects. I'm very happy for you that you're enjoying your new guitar so much!

Re: New acoustic day

The workmanship on my Taylor 710CE is excellent, one of the best made and best playing guitars I own.

That's a life-long friend, so take good care of it. Enjoy!

Maybe look at an Eastman AC608CE?

I have an E8D (only with an Ebony board) that is an affordable HD28–gets the HD28 tone without the price IMO. (would love to have an HD28 someday, just can't justify it at the moment...)
