New Amp: Bugera 6262

I was very skeptical about the Bugera line of amps as I'm not a Behringer fan at all. I was in a local music store and saw the 6262 head (an obvious Peavey 6505 ripoff). I was curious so I went home and got my guitar, came back and plugged into it. The gates of tone Heaven opened immediately. I know they reverse-engineered the thing but man, this amp sounds amazing. I A/B'd it with a 6505 and it actually sounded better. It must be a newer one because the inside is soldered well as I've heard the first ones had alot of clip connections. The "clean" channel actually gets pretty clean and when you engage the crunch switch, it's classic-rock/blues heaven. The lead channel is why I fell in love with this thing. It has gain to spare for even the biggest metal whore. (I am a serious metal tone whore) I have to tell ya, this amp does not suck. It is very loud and the stock tubes are very nice. I also like that you can switch to EL34's. There really is a tonal difference when you switch, too. I've had several tube amps that were power tube switchable but the tone wasn't affected very much. Not so with this amp. Anyone curious about these amps should try them. They sound great straight up but when you put a parametric EQ in the loop, HOLY SHEEP S$#T Batman!! You won't be disappointed. This thing DOES take effects very well and at $550.00 brand new, it's a steal. I've had it for 2 months now and play it at least 3 hours a day with absolutely no problems. There might be hope for Behringer yet.:yourock:

Im not a gear snob, and Im not afraid to respond to this post LOL

Yeh man ,I A/B'd the 333XL combo against a valveking 2x12 and though almost everybody you ask on these boards will tell you to go with the Peavey...the Bugera totally annoliated it. I still want a 333XL ,even though I setteled for the time being,on a used PV Ultra because it was rediculously cheap.

Rock It !

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

Their rep was totally cool to me at the LA Amp show. He even gave me a free 'high gain' rated 12AX7 for free. I'll see if I can find my Bugera decal and send it to you. I'll PM you if I find it in my bag of decals.

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

This thing is going to be a contender in the inexpensive tube amp market. I still fear anything behringer, but I have heard a few good things about them. Nothing suggest they are one of the better amps out there, but as far as bang for buck is concerned, it might be up there if it can be more reliable than most behringer products.

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

Its quite funny, i spent the last half hour researching Bugera.. and it seems EVERYWHERE the conclusion is "OMG the tone is so much better than the amps it copies, but my best friends sisters mailmans brothers chicken-cutters father said they break down in afew weeks".. I wonder how many actually run into issues, and how much is hearsay.

If I was looking for a head, I would probably get a 333, but Im not looking atm

I have no need at all for the watts, but a 3 channel amp continues to interest me.

Speaking of three channel amps... I have not played the Bugera yet, but I have trouble thinking it would be able to match what Yorkville came up with in their Traynor line :

Tried it the other day. At 1k, it's great value. I would be interested in comparing it to the bugera directly.

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

Thats probably the main thing thats stopping me from buying one actually (other than not needing a head, I wouldnt have anywhere to place it with my vert 2x12/1x12s and have my rack anyways) but that they only come in 100+ watt versions, its a shame cause if there was a 60 watt version, it'd make it better for playing at home and such, and id consider selling my rack maybe.

But not a fault to the company, more my situation/most heads are 100+ watts anyways.

Man I played a 333 and it is every bit as muddy as the Peavey XXX. The 333xl (JSX) sounds freakin amazing though. Really tight bottom. And I likes me a tight bottom!:saeek:

well, it was only the 333xl's that were ever reported to have problems, and that I am confident in saying has been fixed, as I have a friend who bought one of the first 333xl's in the second batch and has had it for 4 months and it has not yet broke down, and i'm going on two months or so of gigging mine, and no issues, and they are ****ing awesome to say the least.

Yes, the muddiness has to do with the use of 6L6 tubes with the way it sounds in general, and it is possible(at least when I asked) to swap the tubes for EL34's just like the XXX(at least that is what I was told by the rep, i've never played a XXX) and if you wanna get an idea of how the 333 will sound, go play the new peavey 3120, which is just a redesigned as far as looks go, version of the XXX with EL34's. And yes, the 333xl has been all I use for gigging/ band jam sessions here as of late, I use a microcube for at home stuff as I can't really crank up a full sized amp where I live. I've been getting a very amazing tone from it, and I can't really think any reason to swap it for something else.
well, Im a huge fan of the XXX sound, which is why I'd get the 333 o_O

Yep, 333 would be perfect for you, and its clean tone is better than that on the XXX from what my friend informed me.

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

if I ever look to get a head, it'll be between the Carvin X100B or 333.. but Im trying to focus on my rack rig right now.

Its too bad they dont do rackmount preamps. I could use one of those right now

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

I played a 333 version. It's pretty cool. Very huge sound, massive distortion ammount:) Clean sounds OK though I haven't payed much attention to it.
I'd like to see a 60W version. That would be something with just 2 output tubes :)
Does it have some Noise Reduction, or I just misread somewhere?

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

I love behringher's prices, but the longevity is disappointing.
I hope they have solved this with Bugera. Unfortunately I fear a house fire using their gear.

Re: New Amp: Bugera 6262

The 333xl at my shop sounds like bad Peavey hi-gain thru a transistor radio with blown-out subs.

You guys should really try some hand-wired tube amps or something.

The difference in volume between 60 watts and 120 watts is so minimal anyway.
Remember the rule, double the volume equals 10 per cent more volume, hence 10 times the power equals double the volume.
The reason why anyone makes amps with more than 50 watts in today's age is because of the added headroom, not volume.
