Nice amp; VHT makes some great stuff! You just made one heck of a trade; I would never give one up for a Mesa Recto.

The guy who traded me had originally offered me a Marshall 1987X RI. I turned that down, he then traded that amp for the VHT. He was on the prowl for a rock/metal amp, and thought the VHT would do it. Since this isn't like the UL or CLX it didn't work for him either so he hit me up for a trade again. At first I said no, because I didn't know much about VHT except that they made high gain beasts of amplifiers. Thank God he replied and suggested I do some research haha.

Congrats! Nice Score FF!

As I understand it, the 45 is a bit more like a souped up VOX/Fender type of thing as opposed to a typical modded marshall from hell VHT amp.

I've played the original 100W Pitbulls and it was nothing short of incredible, so I can only imagine how good it sounds.

I hear ya about the soundclips...I'd love to put up some of my Chubster and whatever guitar, but jes don't have anything to record with. Some day I'll grab a mic and whatnot.

Yeah, the cleans are definitely on the Fender side of things in class A/B, and the dirt is fairly Marshallesque. I'm sure with EL34 tubes it'd be damn close. Class A is supposedly the Vox/Hiwatt side of things, and IMO the cleans are even better and the gain is a bit smoother there as well.

I used to have an M-Audio sound card and a shiny new SM57, but sold them when I started building my strat to help accelerate the process.

Well, here you go boys. In these pics, the power/standby switches are on the left, inputs on the right, front panel is facing down.

Bump for Scott regarding the nudie pics.

I played the amp at band rehearsal tonight and it SMOKES! I'd read that after running for a half hour or so, the cleans would start breaking up earlier than normally desired (where pristine cleans are concerned) but didn't run into that problem. The drive channel was thick and meaty, even with the gain relatively low. And of course it cleans up beautifully via the guitar's volume control even with the gain higher and the boost on :).

I was running the channel volumes around 2 o'clock and had the loop level (essentially the master volume when loop is on) around 3:00. So it wasn't on full bore, but was plenty loud enough to compete with the drummer. I'm looking VERY forward to this weekend's show now.

Looks awesome. How does it like being paired with the Avatar?

Sounds great. I'd love to have a THD cab one day, but that's a ways off in the future still at this point. The Avatar does sound nice though, and is built very well.
