Re: New Amp Day boys!

Let me introduce y'all to the new love of my life.

She's been a little beat up, but she still has the voice of a Demon!
Couple knobs bent, handle missing....well theres a ghetto one on there ha ha ha....
I must say, These tones are solid!

Never owned an amp with enough gain and tone to actually use! Where has this been all my pathetic life!?

I'm totally rethinking my pedal board now!

Re: New Amp Day boys!

I remember dominus telling tales of how that was one of the only heads that had enough gain for his slaytanic needs (although I think he used the SS version). Must have a lot of gain on tap!!

Re: New Amp Day boys!

So you're running it through the Randall cab? That must sound massive. Especially set to "tight".

Re: New Amp Day boys!

No, just straight from guitar to Peavey to cabinet.
Its surprisingly quiet, not much for feedback and squealing..... so far I like the lead tone best, and i like it on the loose setting.
Gonna order a footswitch for it and probably gig it!

It has a truckload of gain... It's basically like having 27 different amps.... 3 wattage settings, 3 channels, 3 voices per channel! I'm so happy with this amp so far.

This is the ss version, the XXL. . . . The tube version is the XXX i think.

Yes, but which cab?

Oh man i read your post wrong lol.... yes the randall cab which now has a v30, g12t75, texas heat, and a hole... where the g12 65 is going.

Re: New Amp Day boys!

Hey, cool amp!!! Freezer must be leaking.. hahaha.. j/k! Congrats!! I played one of those years back and sounded pretty good IIRC.. You mentioned it having tons of gain.. Doesnt the Randall amp deliver?? I assumed most of those Randalls were pretty crunchy.. ?? enjoy!

Re: New Amp Day boys!

At first i was like "Why would anybody be excited to have one of those?" Then i remembered being a teenager and regularly jamming with a friend who had one, and while my 69 Bassman always sounded 'better', the XXL was a lot more versatile, and we kind of envied eachothers' amps and would often switch back and forth and experiment with new settings and whatnot...

So yeah yknow congrats on the sleeper amp i guess. Don't tell anybody else that some solidstate Peaveys are actually great amps or else folks will start asking too much when they sell them.

Re: New Amp Day boys!

Used it for real at rehearsal last night. I am frigging loving this thing!

I use the loop to add a delay and it has made life so much easier! No pedal board anymore!
Plug in and Rock! The other guitarist is using a peavey tube head and so our tone is now much more similar, they compliment each other very well.

So far, very happy with it. For what that's worth to anyone.

Re: New Amp Day boys!

I had one of these! I want to get the tube version, the XXX (original, not the new one, the newer on is a JSX just renamed and housed)

Nice score! solid amps for sure :)
