New amp is a kaputt?

New JCA2212C

I played it for a while, turned it off, and turned it back on with the power and standby switches. Now nothing but speaker buzz at loud volumes levels.

All the tubes I can see are lit up when the power up.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Wow, that sucks man, I'm sorry... It could still be a tube issue but yeah, you need an exchange or a refund my friend...

Yea, we are hopefully going to have it swapped out for another one. It sounded absolutely killer before dinner! It's like a Marshall with an extra gobble of useable gain.

Great amp before it went silent!

Check to see if your input and speaker jacks haven't wiggled loose and lost a ground.

However, that only means the heaters are functioning. A tube can look fine and be malfunctioning or not working. I concur with Scott F to suspect a short or loss of ground because of the loud hum.

I would go with this, especially as a warranty service. Glad to hear it sounded killer before it died. Sometimes QC slips up. Let them replace it.

As I have found personally, a LOT can happen to an amp during shipping. Things can vibrate loose. It only takes one bad solder joint on a ground to screw the entire pooch. I have found myself taking more time on every solder joint over the last few years. Easier to work slowly and methodically and not have to chase gremlins down for a few days.

And yes, a return and repurchase are in order. I wouldn't accept an offer to fix. Screw that. The amp is brand new mass produced. Try another new one.

Well it's returned and a new one is on the way to my local GC store.
