I got a new amp, the marshall sc20h. I got it used and it works fine so far. I didn't grow up in the 80's using Marshalls and JCM's so I don't have experience using this kind of amp but I have had a few one master volume tube amps before, etc etc. I plugged it into my old Orange 112 cabinet.
day 1 impression: not so loud. very trebly. not a lot of gain.
day 2 impression: yes it is loud. the controls really change everything. this is a tweakable amp you can spend all day on it. i'm starting to hear/recognize all the classic tones from songs on the radio and my albums. different guitars all sound different. I have an Orange lunhbox amp, the Jim Root Terror. It sounds like a rockverb. Once the gain goes up all my guitars sound the same for the most part. On the Marshall, they all sound different. which is good.
day 3: tested out my pedals. somehow i don't like my tubescreamers on this amp. All my Boss pedals sound good though. And my DS-1 which I never use, sounds good.
day 4; today or in the near future - i'll be exploring that sweet spot people been talking about. hopefully people don't complain. haha
