New amp time - which to get

I guess my price range is about 0-1500 +/- 200 or so.

I'm making some money from working on the new house over the weekend...so money is in a bit more of an abundance. I would like to keep it cheap-ish than more expensive....:D

I like my Nomad, don't get me wrong. I have not used the distortion channel at all lately, I just never play anything that would require distortion. That, and it gives me more options to have a few pedals (distortion and otherwise) than to just have a single channel. So basically I'm looking for the following:

-50 or less watts
-head or 1x15/2x12 cab
-A/B Push Pull? - i don't know, I like the clean channel on my nomad...so I guess I'll stick with the A/B
-the ability to run EL34s, 6l6s, and 6550s
-I don't care about the manufacturer....I'll be testing these out before I buy (probably)
-in my price range (with cab, if it's a head. and a few non-boutique pedals)
-effects loop (for graphic eq and such)
-TRBL, MID, BASS controls

soundwise....I need to think about that. I don't want anything brighter than the nomad. But I don't want anything ridiculously dark......A happy medium would be nice. That way I could use a graphic EQ pedal to eq it a lot either way.

does that make sense? :smack:

Thanks

The bold-ed part is the clencher. Very VERY few amps come equipped with a wide enough bias sweep to accomdate that many tubes without a tech visit.

Also don't marry yourself to having to have a Treble/Mid/Bass control, if you do you really limit your market for some great amps.

Maybe a BF or SF Pro Reverb?

Re: New amp time - which to get

I really like the bandmaster that my youth pastor has....he's willing to sell it...he plays acoustic.

Re: New amp time - which to get

Some hippy painted it before he got it....he's thinking about $350. We think it's a 64

Re: New amp time - which to get

Holy crap I might steal that from you.

Buy it, and let me have first dibs when you want to sell it. You think I'm joking?

Re: New amp time - which to get

haha, no I don't. I'm gonna list my nomad on E-bay soon. Hopefully get ~750 for it....

that should pay for my bills (sports, phone - which I thought I had unlimited nights and weekends on - aparrently not), and then some.
