New Amp, Yay!

Not sure how many have read some of the threads I've been posting recently. Basically I've been bitching about my amp, Marshall JTM 60. I've come to the decision that I'm going to get a new one, as soon as I can afford one anyway. I'm not sure how relevent me giving you my price range will be as I'm a Brit, and we seem to pay a lot more for most things over the pond, but it's hopefully going to be about £1000 ($1900) once I've sold my current amp.

I'm going through a big pedal phase so I'm not sure if I really need 2 channels. Would greatly appreciate suggestions on this as I'm only just beginning to learn the amp rules.

I want a lot of headroom, absolutely loads! One thing that really bugs me about my current amp is that no matter what I do with the volume settings I have to back off a bit to stop the signal breaking up. I want to play crystal clean without this being a problem.

Not sure about valve configuration as I don't really understand the difference between them. Is it fair to say that EL34s are more typical of a British 'Marshall sound? And EL84s? What about them? I know there are some more but I'm not even sure what they are. 6L6s?

For speaker configuration I think I'd like to go 2x12. Have been playing 3x10 for about 2 years and always wished I had more 'umph' that I hope I'll be able to get from 12s.

That's about all I think. I know a lot of people here are big Rivera fans so I looked into them. Got quite excited about the Fandanga(?) can't remember what's called, sorry. Also the Knucklehead looked cool, but 100w? I can't imagine playing anywhere and needing that much volume.

Are Cornford amps big in America? I'm thinking about one of those as well, namely the Hurricane. Oh yeah, and a Fender Pro Reverb.

Thank you for reading my thread,
Benja

How about looking into Orange? Brow of the forum also has a JTM60 I believe and loves his Orange amps.

3x10 ??? What has 3 ten inch speakers?

Yeah, I know. Weird. Cool though. Always gets other guitarists talking to me at gigs. Which is nice.

I always tohught of Orange as being very similiar to Marshall just with a little bit more gain. Is this true?
