Re: New bass amp for gigging
Be aware that the current version of the Fender Rumble 200 only puts out 140w through its internal loudspeaker. You need to add an extension cabinet to get the full 200w. For this total outlay, you could buy the 500w model and always have power/volume to spare.
The difference between 2x10 and 1x15 loudspeaker formats is that the lower mass of the former allows the array to begin moving air fractionally more quickly. Theoretically, it will deliver more high frequency content. Conversely, the 1x15 runs out of high frequency response sooner than tens. Of course, on an bass amp with a built-in high frequency "horn" (compression driver) this issue is negated.
I use a tc electronic Staccato '51 amp and RS210 cabinet, stacked vertically. This 450w RMS rig has never felt short of power or full frequency reproduction - neither on stage nor at the back of the venue.
