new bridge pickup for SG

I'm looking for a new bridge pickup for my SG special, i currently still have the stock pickup in there, which to me, seems to sound small and lacks balls. I dont have a problem with the stock neck pickup, i'm just looking to replace the bridge. I play rock/hard rock and occasionaly some classic rock (mostly zeppelin). I need something that just sounds big, sounds good clean, and sounds great distorted. The amp i'll be playing it through will be a traynor ycv-40wr i'll be getting in a couple weeks.

So does your SG Special use P90's or humbuckers? Most use P90's. The Duncan Custom P90 and Hot P90 would both be good choices. Go to the main Duncan page and read up on them. Good luck! Lew

OK. Well....just the usual suspects: 59B for vintage Clapton/SG tone...JB for hotter, stronger, thicker tone with great coil splitting options. Lew

how are the highs on the JB? the tonechart seems to show it with more highs, and i dont really like piercing highs.

Re: new bridge pickup for SG

the JB CAN be shrill, but you can adjust your EQ if you don't like it. It all depends on the distortion you're using. What would be your setup?

Re: new bridge pickup for SG

i'm running the sg to a marshall atv20 (soon to be a traynor ycv-40wr), getting my distortion from a boss ds-1 and also using an sd-1 ocassionally.

Re: new bridge pickup for SG

alright, well i think i'm gonna go try a JB in the sg unless anyone has anymore suggestions
