New Build - Locking Tremolo Help/Suggestions

Pardon my ignorance here–planning a new build and really want to try my hand at a locking tremolo setup like Floyd Rose or Schaller.

The only partcaster I did with a Floyd, I had to get a significant shim under the neck to get the action decent. That was a non-recessed body that I bought used along with a used neck.

I would be looking ordering a Warmoth body (and neck) with a recessed tremolo and leaning heavily towards a Schaller. Is there a preferred/"best" fingerboard radius for a Floyd/Schaller type build? (I've seen suggestions for 10" to 12" radius but a lot of Floyd Rose guitars have compound radius necks.) Also, any worry about needing a shim if I go with the recessed tremolo?

Thanks in advance!

Warmoth offers several options for neck pocket angles, so you shouldn't have to mess with shims.

I think my LTD has like a 14" radius, works fine with the OFR. When you're setting up a guitar, do you use a radius gauge? Whenever I get mine set where they feel best, they're not consistent with my gauges. I'd go with something flat-ish and not worry all that much. You can also shim the saddles on the Floyd if it's absolutely necessary, which it probably won't be.

Thanks for the advice! I tend to prefer straight 9.5" necks so I will go with the 10" straight radius just to play it safe. Y'all rock! :headbang:
