New Cab day! Custom Roadkill 2x12

Hey guys this has been in the works for quite some time.
Its a little taller than your average 2x12 and also fairly deep. I wasn't quite sure what colour piping to go for but in the end I chose silver and i'm pretty glad that I did as it blends really well.
I haven't had too much playtime on it so far but it's a definite improvement over the peavey 2x12 that I had that was too bass heavy for my liking.
I discussed what I like/dislike about cabs that I've tried with Tom and we ended up settling on this.
The low end is very clean and precise with no excess woofiness (this was exactly what I was looking for!) and the midrange is very open and detailed and the highs bloom amazingly without getting harsh or fizzy.
The speakers are far from broken in as they've had about an hours playtime in total but I'm really impressed so far.
The eminence rep told me that the Legend V128 were like a tighter & punchier v30 but not as grating in the midrange and without the flabby lows. So far I would say he was absolutely spot on. However we will see if that changes as they break in.
I'll get the exact dimensions etc posted up later as well as a better pic. For now I'm going to crank my amp up and get a start on breaking this in!

that is one nice looking cab!!!

Please tell me you're going make a white headshell for that slo-clone so it matches :D :D :D

Re: New Cab day! Custom Roadkill 2x12

I'm already ahead of the game with the headshell. It's currently out for retolexing though because I got some yellowish gunk on it from the feet of another amp that was on top of it that seems to have gone right into the tolex. 2011-10-12 20.32.51 - Copy.jpg

The dimensions are
690 w x 490 h x 340 d
Before settling on these I went out and did tried a lot of cabs to see what I liked and what I didn't like. In general I found that shorter and narrower cabs sounded a bit too boxy whilst short and deep ones were far too boomy in the lows hence the slightly taller dimensions on this one.
Another thing that came into consideration was the fact that I plan on building a few amps that are going to be pretty gigantic so I had to also be able to accommodate fitting those on top of it too without fudging the sound up.
Ill get some internal shots tomorrow to show off how nicely put together it is too once the peavey cab is out of the way!

Cool cabs for sure, I've been tempted by the RK cabs a few times. The amp looks excellent too.... I love white amps and cabs.

white is the new black! I have used a single v128 when I had a DSL50 head and a lil 1x12 and it's a cool speaker. and I also have to say your description of that speaker is spot on.

Well from my day or so of experience i'd highly recommend them. I get all my headshells made by them too. If you add them on facebook every now and then they have offers on. Currently i think its 2 for one on speakers.
