New Cab Day

[Swampy]

Picked up this ‘68 Fender Bassman cab off Craigslist today. Going to use it as a guitar cab. It’s got the Utah’s in it and I believe it’s wired at 4 ohms. Going to see about wiring differently to get a higher impedance, if that’s possible.

Anyone ever use one of these funky things for a guitar cab? Thing is a beast.

Yeah, the Omni-directional design is pretty wild. I’d like to run the Orange OR-15 through it, but it’d need to be 8 or 16 ohm.

Well if it's a 4 ohm cab it's either 4 x 16ohm in parallel for 4 ohms or 4 x 4 ohm in series/parallel for 4 ohm. So you can get a 16 ohm load by reversing the process.

They should be 4 ohm speakers. If they are, they could be wired to get 16ohm? That stuff always confuses the hell outta me.

Yes, you just wire them all in series.
Just hope none of them blow if you're pushing them with a tube amp.

If those are old Fender 10s, the angled baffle should spare the lives of anyone sitting right in front of it.
