New Carl Martin Plexi Tone Demo

Re: New Carl Martin Plexi Tone Demo

I should be happy, but it just means I got to get one and spend more money. BTW, that guy Thorn is a awesome player isnt he?
Wait..please tell me its 9V DC powered ...

EDIT-its AC powered only, and if you cant say anything nice, then dont say it at all so I'll just say its one less pedal I'll need to spend money on.

Pete is a great player and the new Plexi Tone is 9 volts DC...wall wart or battery...it says that in the clip I posted.

Re: New Carl Martin Plexi Tone Demo

9 Friggin' volts in.....+-12v on the inside!!!

:friday:

Nothing personal, but why cant a pedal be bumped up to 12V wiht a 9v battery inside? No need to answer, I just thought it could, I really dont understand anything about electronics.
In any case, Im sure Carl Martin makes fine pedals, but in general I only use 9VDC powered pedals. I just thought that maybe since the Plexi pedal was downsized, it would also be able to be operated with a 9V battery.

Are you already drunk or are you just a full on moron...

The damn pedal runs on 9volts DC...just like a Boss pedal

No, Im sober. Maybe a lil jacked up on 2 pots of French Roast , but I see now. What confused me was he pointed to the wall wart jack and said at the same time it ran on 9 volts , so I figured wal-wart AC only, particualry given that when I think Carl Martin, I usually think AC power... but i went back and yeah, he DID say 'DC', but IMO could have been stated more clearly, especially since some folks dont know AC from DC..in fact, I gotta stop and think about usually.
The good news for Carl Martin is I'll probably be getting one. The bad news is I'll probably wait to buy one used.

Double sigh....

I dont understand. You do know a pedal can have a 9VAC in, and have no 9 volt DC battery inside. You do know not everyone knows what the difference between AC/DC is, or that some get confused.
The guy pointed to the wal wart AC jack, and said it was 9 volt powered. Is it illogical to assume someone could miss or confuse the "DC" reference?( after all he didnt say "Battery").
As far as I know, before the "vintage " series, Carl Martin was all AC powered pedals, in fact I remember you not understanding how people could want a DC powered pedal when I said at that time that I didnt want a C.M. AC only powered pedal.

It's funny, I thought his tone with the Grohl sig was to die for, but when he showed the difference between the pedal into the clean channel of the Suhr and no pedal on the distortion, there was no comparison - the amp sounded so much better. The pedal sounded pretty good, but it had more of a cocked wah sound than the dirt channel of the amp. Maybe that's the intended voicing of the pedal though?

Re: New Carl Martin Plexi Tone Demo

One thing I'd like to address while The Kreator is here is the following.
Ive got a few of these Plexi in a box pedals. The ones that I have been demoed by their repective websites as a pedal to push a clean amp ( clean Plexi Superlead for BoR,and a Clean Fender for the Pexi-drive, as well as what looks to be clean amp settinggs for the Rockett Animal.
While Pete Thorn gives a brief sample of his "real clean " tone, it doesnt seem to be the pristine clean that the others have strated as the base for their demos.
Maybe its just me.
I was wondering if some of these Plexi pedals can be used with an amp thats on the edge of a good breakup, like maybe a somewhat cranked Fender Deluxe, or whether its best to run them into a amp thats as totally clean as possible ( like a Superlead, a Bogner Barcelona or a Showman).
I do recall the Tubescreamer, which of course is a way diffrent pedal, having been mentioned as being best for an amp thats already distorting.
No fear..if this post seems odd, its my last one of the day..Im off to go get tanked up.

Try it out and let us know the results...

Re: New Carl Martin Plexi Tone Demo

I'm gonna be using it thru a Marshall class 5 which believe It or not for the most part will be set clean or probably a hint of breakup. I'll try and post some clips next week but be warned I'm no Pete Thorn and I'll be recording with an iPhone

Whenever I feel sorry for my cousin with Down Syndrome, all I have to do is read some of MetalManiac's posts and I feel much better.
