New Carvin for me!!!

CELEBRATE!... Okay well maybe today wasn't new guitar day, it was actually sometime last week and I am just getting around to posting pictures (I know, I suck...). After about 9 days of playing this guitar I have to say that it is an amazing instrument and I am EXTREMELY pleased with the quality that Carvin produces. The Neck is very very comfortable, fast and straight, the stainless steel frets are SMOOTH as butter and with a considerably low action I have no buzz at all...

I have new SD pickups to put in but I have not got around to it yet, for the time being I am just enjoying the Carvin pickups, which are not bad at all for what they are, given they are not vintage sound and they are VERY HOT, I am enjoying playing them none the less (very warm smooth distortion and very balanced output across the set). The STK-S4 neck and mid and Nickel 59b will be going in soon regardless....

So without further delay, here is my new Carvin Bolt-T (Alder, Maple w/ Rosewood, Abalone Dots, SS Med Jumbo Frets, Wilki Trem, Sperzel Locking Tuners)...

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

Nice, that looks like a great axe. I really like carvins, my dc135 is my main player these days. Hopefully, I'll be able to order a cs6 pretty soon, I've been GAS'ing over those since they came out.

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

That is a very nice looking strat. The next time I actually spend a decent bit of money on a guitar, it's making sense to me to go with Carvin.

I wish they made a Bolt that looked like a Tele.

OOOO me too man, me too. If they did, that would be my next purchase... well either that or a CT6.... hard to decide...

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

I love the finish on it. Congrats! You know, I also like the color of the pickups. Enjoy!

When you install the new pickups make sure you post and let us know if you prefer the SD's to the Carvins.

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

Thanks for the kind words, I spent a lot of time (some of which should have been used to work, oops) picking the options and the color (sunsetburst). In the end when I opened the case, she was exactly what I wanted and plays fantastic....

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

How is the fretwork on those rosewood boards? Smooth on the sides?

The fretwork is fantastic:wow:, smooth as butter, no sharp edges, the action is much lower then my strat without any buzz and I tend to play harder then most people when I play rythm....

Nice! How are those Carvin pickups? You going to put some Duncans or keep it stock?

P-Man, you have excellent aesthetic taste! I love the finish. I love the matching headstock. A very nice touch.

I'm glad it plays as good as it looks. Carvin does do a great job of that.

Re: New Carvin for me!!!

Not to be mean..just to be honest. I love that guitar, but I just can't get behind those Carvin headstock shapes.

No offense taken, everyone has their personal taste, I personally don't dig the traditional Fender oversized headstock shape, doesn't mean everyone else has to agree right? Carvin, Suhr and Anderson are my favorite headstock shapes, I like sleek lines and simplicity... just my taste ;)
