Hey dudes---got to try one of Seymour's/MJ's newest creations yesterday. They call it the Stra-90 (or the Strat-90). It is a humbucker made up of one strat coil (6.5k with A-2 rod poles), and one P-90 coil (9k with 2 small ceramic magnets). It all fits under a humbucker cover. I installed it in the neck position of a mahogany Tele. I wired with a 3-way switch for series/split/split. That way I could hear each coil separately, and then the full series output.
Series---15k and BIG sounding (maybe too hot for neck---I'll try it in parallel and see if that does it)
Split-one---P-90 coil. Closest to the neck. Nice P-90 tone. Gritty and chimey.
Split-two---Strat coil. Real strat tone---not a split-humbucker sound.
Overall---very cool, versatile PU with three very different sounds. You will need a mini-toggle to access them all, but well worth it.
