New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

Just got my Seynour Duncan pre-NAMM 06 news flyer. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but it looks like Duncan is releasing an active set ala EMG as a Dave Mustaine set. They are active and run off a 9v battery, but are voiced after the JB/Jazz. They appear to chrome with Mustaine's sig on the top (that's the downside).

 I can't wait to try 'em! :headbang:

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

Any pics? Did they come out with the black nickel looking covers that I saw in Dave's prototype guitar at UGD?

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

I just added a digital pic, they appear to be chrome. I must say I'm turned off by the sig across the face, but otherwise they sound like something I might want to try.

Apparently... :)

Oh My... I really hope I can order these babies and don't have to spend $$$$ on an ESP just to own 'em....

Black Nickel-plated cover... MAN I WANT 'EM SOOO BAD!!!

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

I stand corected, I just read it again and it says "black nickel-plated solid top covers"

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

I'm not a fan of the signature on the cover either, but I've been curious about active's for a while. Been looking for a decent deal on a set of EMG's just for giggles. Maybe if these aren't TOO much......

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

If these are voiced as a JB and Jazz then why go active? Basically what would be the upside of an active set of JB/Jazz? All this just to give it more headroom?

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

Personally, I need to hear them first.

Also, do these come with tone shaping circuits like EMG's SPC or EXG?

I don't think we were supposed to know about these pups yet really. so we're prolly gonna have to wait on answers, but I sure as hell can't wait to hear 'em for myself...

not big on the name engraved on them either but they sound like they will be cool so i'll let it slide and give them a try.

Active. Whoa. Wasn't expecting that.

Doesn't the Dimebucker have a siggy on it anyway?

I guess this is a bigger sig, and more noticeable. Still, it's Dave Mustaine - we should be thankful we can still see the pup behind the sig :laugh2:

This throws a kink in the works though - now I have to decide between these and Lace Drop & Gains for a pickup swap :p Still, I doubt these are for me - especially if they're voiced after the JB sound. Still, very tempting.

Re: New Duncan Mustaine set - active !!

i just realized something...well, wondered something.

will they come with multiple pots like EMGs do? (4) enough for a les paul i mean. i hope duncan does that since i may try these in one of my pauls.

otherwise i'll just have to build another "Clone Guitar" to stick them in LOL.

You're not supposed to know about this until next Thursday. Try not to think about it for a week. OK?

;)

But may I be excused from wet dreams?
