New Epiphone Les Paul Standard coming my way

Re: New Epiphone Les Paul Standard coming my way

I take everything off of an epi all the pieces and parts including inserts. I then rebuild it completely --> Then life is good , but that is just what I do it has nothing to do with what you are asking?

Are those your special jamming shoes under the effects?

Re: New Epiphone Les Paul Standard coming my way

I got it and it's absolutely fantastic. I didn't even have to level the frets (something you always have to do with Fender). The finish is gorgeous and the Gibson 57's sound superb. Nice and sweet. Playability is also fantastic. Beautiful piece of rosewood. I'm so glad I bought it. No more Fenders for me. The Les Paul is a better choice for the kind of music I play and the tone I want to hear.

I thought mine sounded great when I got them both, then one day they didn't. Countdown to the pickup swap thread.

Nope. Mine sounds great every day. It's your perception that changes. Mine has 57's in it. Sound superb.

Mine had 57's in it too, one day it just seemed to be missing something. Maybe your perception won't change, maybe it will. The swap to a PG neck and JB bridge made my Gold Top a beast.:bigok:

I have a JB and a Jazz Model sitting in my box of parts. I love Duncans and I'm glad I have them in case I ever want to experiment. Pearly Gates would be another interesting model to hear.

Re: New Epiphone Les Paul Standard coming my way

I bought one brand new in 2000 and had it for about 5 years. I thought it was cool at the time, but I knew next to nothing about aftermarket pickups, setups, replacement pots, etc. In the entire 5 years I had it I'd say I only got it set up twice, maybe three times, and I never had a hardshell case for it. Needless to say when I got rid of it, it was barely playable, to me anyway. Been wanting another one off and on lately but I'd have to sell my PRS in order to afford it and I'm thinking maybe I should just leave well enough alone.

The only things I dislike about Epi LP's are the pickup brackets and the toggle ring. If you look at the sides of the pickup brackets, they're a little wider than Gibson's. I don't know why it bothers me so much, but it does. The toggle rings on Epi LP's always seem to be situated just a tad too far toward the edge of the body as well. It bothers me but not enough to keep me from buying one.

I love my Epi! I bought a Matt Heafy model a few months ago. I ripped everything out of it including the hardware. With tone pros hardware, locking tuners, new pups, and Gibson pots it sounds amazing through my tube. And it has slightly better upper fret access.

Not really what would be classified as major issues; I don't think I've ever heard anyone complain about these two things. It doesn't cost much to replace the PU rings.

Epi's have been continually improving since 2000, you should try some LP's, especially ones that come with upgraded PU's.

Re: New Epiphone Les Paul Standard coming my way

Epi is a different size , metric and the routes are shaped differently longer and skinnier. I wanted to put triple plays on my 335 and they don't fit , also a big fan of metal pup rings and the ones I used last only come in USA measurements.
