New evh wolfgang!

Re: New evh wolfgang!

I'd be more interested in the Fender 5150 III coming out. Any info on those? 2009 release?

So, you want the EVH 5150 III to be rebranded one the front of the amp as a Fender?
I don't expect an amp that was released not that long ago will be updated anytime soon.

Re: New evh wolfgang!

i'm waiting until the contract expires and Fender has to change the name and drop the price on the 5150 3.

You maybe waiting for a while. Fender may build them but its an EVH branded product.

Re: New evh wolfgang!

I thought the new Fender collaboration was about replicating his old school strat-like guitars. I thought they were making like 9 grand versions of his guitar, which I always thought was hilarious since his original guitars cost like maybe $300 to rebuild. Now I just see he's still making the same old garbage looking guitars under yet again a new name. EVH got me into playing guitar, and I'm still blown away by him from back in the day, but the more I hear him talk or read interviews after 1984 when the split happened I just get sad. He went from the humble cool guitar player looking to have fun, to this ego-maniac who was totally bitter.
Anyway, hats off for the new guitar:banghead:

Re: New evh wolfgang!

I just read the interview... and yes its the same line as the EBMM and the PV.... "this is what I play" "all my years of experience" blah blah... that alone will sell boatloads... but ill reserve my judgement til I get my hands on one. Never cared one bit for the PVs, love my MM Axis...

Re: New evh wolfgang!

there is a new interview with ed at the fender custom shop where they are making the new wolfies. and yes he pretty much is giving us the same thing word for word what he said about the EBMM's and the old wolfies....."this is what i play"......"this is all my knowledge of guitars that i have discovered over the years in this"....."all my trial and error is in this guitar".........well, i probably wont get one since i just bought a brand new Kramer baretta '85 RI and im happy with it. ed you kick ass, but yes.....u are a punk

Re: New evh wolfgang!

He should remake the only guitar which he hasnt done and is basically what he is trying to recreate. the old 5150

Put a darn banana neck on it dude and call it a day. Enough of these silly shaped bodies and headstocks. The 5150 was for me the best of everything.

Make a Basswood maple top strat style guitar with the EBMM neck shape and a nana headstock, not that silly bottle opener headstock. The EBMM headstock was about as far as i would go with different.

5150 man and get it over with. And call it 5150 as well, enough with Wolfgang already. geez

Re: New evh wolfgang!

Admittedly I'm a fan of the Peavey Wolfy (so I'm biased) but I do think its a good design for a guitar and I'm glad its continuing. It does whiff a bit of endorsement chasing since Eddie spouted the exact same thing when the Peavey came out (years of putting axes together, all his experience yadda yadda). Articles suggest upgraded components etc so it'll be interesting to see how they compare and if there's a major difference.

Re: New evh wolfgang!

Eddie's such a shill. Same exact song and dance everytime he releases a product. He threw the old 5150 line under the bus in a Guitar World interview from somehwat recently when he unveiled the new 5150 III line. And as a player, while he's worlds better than i'll ever be, he seems to have seriously stagnated over the years......even regressed. Somebody showed me a vid recently of him jamming with some fusion guys and he was just terrible. He didn't have the knowledge of theory to hang with those guys and he was in way over his head. I'd rather listen to somebody like Steve Morse or Petrucci.

I wouldn't mind getting hold of one of those old EBMM Wolfgang guitars though. That headstock on the new one is nasty, very similar to a few of the Deans.

Re: New evh wolfgang!

When Fender can build a neck as nice as an EBMM, I might check it out, but so far I haven't played one Fender that is even close to any EBMM neck I have tried.
Funny, I talked to one of my 16 year old guitar students...he didn't know who EVH was- he had heard the name before, and that is it.
Bigger question, is it even relevant? This guitar is late by almost 2 years. The VH tour got mixed reviews, and Hagar & Anthony are putting together a new band with Satch. Unless EVH comes out with a Guitar Hero edition featuring old VH tunes, I don't know how he will sell a lot.

Man, the VH tour was a success. A comercial success that is, but thats what matters at the end right??

The sold out shows are the prove that VH music still is relevant IMO, so i think VH is still relevant.

I went to Orlando to see them, and i saw A LOT of young people (16-25) in there, so its not only a nostalgia thing

I saw the VH tour twice. Once in November at Nassau Coliseum in New York, and another time in May in Atlantic City.

The November show was amazing, and got a huge glowing review in every New York paper. The Atlantic City show was horrible from the first song, possibly due to the acoustics of the Atlantic City hall.

I'm not a huge VH fan, but seeing the two sold out shows I did, it shows VH is still relevant and a strong attraction

Go to youtube and you'll find no shortage of guys who plunked down $25,000 for his Frankesntein replica guitars. It's insane. For that price I can commission a guy like Ken Lawrence to make me 4 custom guitars with whatever woods, hardware, electronics, materials, inlays, full LED fret markers I want.
