After falling briefly in love with my Fender Baja Tele I bought 2 months ago, I finally realized I'm just not a Fender guy. I have an LP Studio and had wanted an Explorer for a long time. I just couldn't resist when a buddy of mine offered good money for the Baja. I think I like the Explorer even better than the Studio. I like the stock bridge pickup tons more than the stock in the Studio, or at least my new amp does.
After owning 3 different Valvetronix models I traded my AD60vt for a Tech 21 Trademark 60. I always thought Vox had the best modellers, but no more! Less to fiddle with - no effects except for reverb and Fender, Vox, and Marshall tones - means more playing than tweaking. Much better tones than in the Vox.
Lastly, had a Taylor 214-E for about 2 months as well. Super nice guitar, but had to come to grips with the fact that I'm an old hair metaler, not an acoustic picker at all, and this Taylor is not made for hard handed strumming.
The Epiphone Masterbuilt AJ500 is great for that. Very surprised at the quality. Epi really has some nice stuff in the Masterbuilt line. Solid sitka top and rosewood sides.
