new fender amp

my search for a new amp now is between all of the fenders around the 800 or 900 dollar range (give or take a hundred or so). which fenders have you played, and which do you like? at the shop near me there are the deluxe reverbs, twin reverbs, super reverbs (all reissues). also the tweed versions of some of these (i think at least the twin reverb). also the vibrolux reissue. so far the one i played most is the twin reverb and i like it alot. what are some pros and cons people have found of this one?

the music i play will use that classic fender clean strat tone a lot, but also a lot of distortion. (think weezer, i suppose)

Re: new fender amp

Sounds like the way to go, as long as volume is not an issue. I'm no fender expert though.

Re: new fender amp

Go used if you can. A well taken care of used Fender amp will do you fine. If you must go new then go clearance at some end of the year sale. First decide what you want to do with it. That will determine what size of speaker you will need and what amp will best suit you. If you have speakers then maybe just get an amp head for the fender tone. Combo's can get heavy hauling them around and up and down stairs. Its nice to haul a 1x12 or 2x12 speaker cab and head seperate then hauling a heavy 4x10 combo. If its just a bedroom amp then you could go blues jr iii with a 12 inch speaker that will handle a distortion pedal. There is a cheap option like the excelsior for a cheap amp. the delux reverb is a great amp but lacks clean headroom past 5 usually. They make a hotrod amp which is 40 watts and a celestion speaker. These can be had on sale for around $750 and they are great for tone and light to carry. Its a 6l6 tube based amp and its a good one they make extension cabs for it too so its easy to expand on that tone platform

Re: new fender amp

If you play with a heavy distorted tone I would suggest the Twin. It takes to pedals nicely especially boost and overdrive. It has tons of headroom and enough power to keep up with any drummer/bass player combo.

philthis why did you bump a 8 year old thread? I can't believe I was actually trying to be helpful and not the sarcastic SOB I usually am. That's it I'm out of this thread.
