Well i noticed a few items on sale recently and just had to grab them.

First up is a custom badass OD that i haven't actually had a chance to try yet as i got back late from picking them up from UPS' security compound....
So there will be more on this tomorrow after i've got a chance to use it.

Then secondly a set of pickups that i'm not going to post a seperate thread about seen as they aren't SD's. Again i only got a quick minute with these but theyre a heck of a lot middier than i remember when i played a set in PMT and arent too hot. As above more on these tomorrow possibly.

I love that OD. I tried it today and I'm really leaning towards getting it.

The Het set is pretty good as well. I had it in a hardtail ESP Eclipse that got stolen a couple years ago. Definitely interesting sounding, and I liked them more than the 81/60 that were stock in there.

Wow. So far I am mightily impressed. The MXR does a pretty good job of not really colouring the tone and just boosting however this thing has a **** ton of gain on tap! I really wasn't expecting how much it can pulverise the crunch channel on my amp taking it straight into metal territory. It also works really well on the clean channel getting those nice thick broken up tones. I am having loads of fun with this so far, possibly the most fun I've had with a bit of guitar gear in a long time. The bump feature is especially nice as is the fact you can still use it when the main circuit is bypassed.

A little more info now.

i tried to do this on as level a playing field as possible hence the same settings on the amp & pedal across the channels. As a further measure i recorded the clips using the slave out circuit on my amp which is just the signal tapped off from the speaker out jack so preamp > poweramp > DAW

However i just went into my guitar room and realised the computer was still on and the sound of the last three clips has been bugging me all evening. I realised that i hadn't loaded any cab impulses on the crunch channel clips at all. So i saved the project quickly before turning it off and i'll re render those last three correctly tomorrow.

The Modified OD is an awesome overdrive. Love mine. I really want to try out the Het Set pickups too.

I'm absolutely loving the het-set. I'm going to do a full review of them with clips this weekend when i have a bit more time as that will take a fair amount more than the MXR. I also want to be a lot more familiar with them too. But they are just what this guitar needed hence the sale of the bkp miracle man which for the longest time i thought was the optimal pickup for this guitar.
