More likely they will double down on historically accurate re-creations of famous LPs.

So $4500 lp's which used to be $2500 lp's will now be $9400 lp's ?
Stand by for the VOS Custom Historic epi's @ $1800.
Most the Gibson LP's ive bought the last 40 years were the $1300 to $1800 range.
Sorry folks im not into price wars, im out.

And quadruple up the prices, unfortunately.

I'll say this, and no one, especially Gibson will listen. Cut the price of a Les Paul Standard to 1500. Just make it a basic Les Paul Standard, with BB1/2's. Make a "modern one" with sportier pickups, carves, locking tuners, etc. for $2k. Make a Custom for $2500, classic style, and make repros of Ace, Billy G, Zack, Slash, etc....for around $3000. Run "guitar of the month" Standard and Custom TWICE a year for limited runs.

They would have to cut down the rain forest to get enough wood and open up Gibson guitar stores in every city. And they would make an unbelievable amount of money.

If you can't provide good opinions, you have no business "typing" them. Yet here you are.

No matter where you go there you are.
You certainly dont need to read my posts and get yer panties in a wad.
Butthurt optional.

Back to the topic please.

The price of LPs aren't going to go down. They will go up because people will buy them. It works for Harley.

right. gibson isnt going to lower prices. id hope they dont raise em much but if previous behavior is predictive of future, then they will

I thought we all figured it out. Gibson's prices have been in lockstep with inflation. If they could pay their workers $8 per hour, gas their trucks with $1.50 per gallon gas, and pay1985 lumber prices, I am sure they would drop the price of the guitars to 80's prices. The price of everything has gone up, labor, materials, commercial space, and even advertising.

Inflation has been falling for 2 years -so Im not sure that Gibson is tracking with inflation.

For consumers too not just Gibdo.
Inflation hurts the little guy more than a Co. like Gibson.

Wages, materials, energy, and all other parameters of being a manufacturing company have all gone up. Especially wood, looking at the prices I am paying for #2 pine to work on the house, I can only imagine the price of AAA maple or mahogany.

Labor & materials for Gibson is dirt cheap.
They exploit cheap labor & materials from every corner of the earth all the while under the "guise" its "made in USA".
Same with most companies.

yeah, just picking on you oversimplication of "inflation" lol sorry for the tedious comment -but yeah it will take time for the other factors to follow along.

Let's put this in perspective in 1965 a Ford Mustang would cost you $2,427 adjusted for inflation, which would be $23,271. A 2023 base Mustang would cost you 28K and well past 60K if you wanted one with all the goodies. The Levis jeans you slapped on for your ride were $5; today, the same jeans will cost you $35 - $60. We do not have to discuss the delta in the cost of the gas that would go in the tank of the Mustang. So, yes, the Gibson Les Paul you pack in the trunk of your Mustang is also more expensive. Gibson does not operate in a time bubble.

Thats not perspective thats "Ancient Archeological fun facts"

Here comes the re-vamped "Firebird X" or similar.
Gibson's not in the business of making affordable guitars so just squash that theory now.

Totally agreed that Gibson has run out of runway and somehow repositioning at the top is probably all there is left.

However a revamped firebird x or similar would be the exact opposite of good marketing and I'm hoping the new guy might know what he's doing.

Most people think of marketing as advertising, but advertising is simply the last step. The first step is knowing your customers and your organizations' capabilities. Combining the best capabilities that customers want, and can afford, wins the prize.

Don't get me wrong, Gibson has never shown marketing prowess and you're probably right... they may be too far down the road to change... But I'm still hoping :-)
