New Guitar Day! (well yesterday was lol) Not the one I was planning on :)

Well as some of you know, I got a gift card to my local guitar shop and was planning on getting a used Agile 3100 this week... ( Here's the thread about it https://forum.seymourduncan.com/showthread.php?t=215923 )
The gift card arrived in the mail on friday afternoon, so on saturday I made a trip to the shop. I walked in and my guitar guy John said he would go grab the Agile from the back room, as I was waiting I looked around and I noticed that they had got a lot more used gear in since last time I was there and they were having a big sale. As I walked around the corner I saw a mint condition Goldtop ESP LTD EC-400AT in the used gear (I've wanted one for FOREVER!!). I took both guitars and went over to the amps to try them out, after playing them for a while I decided I liked the ESP even more than the Agile, it just played so nice, it looks amazing, and it already has a JB/59 set in it. The Agile was $300, it had some scratches, a few dings on the back, and the hardware was a little tarnished. The ESP was $400 but I ended up getting it for $349 out-the-door, it looks brand spankin' new! I had enough left on the card to get a case for it and a Modtone compressor pedal too. I couldn't be more happy, I played it at church today and I didn't want to put it down! The only thing is I could't get the HUGE discounts they were having since I was using a gift card to pay, the big discounts were for cash only. If I would have had cash, my guitar guy told me I could have them BOTH for $500 out-the-door... :crying: I'm still extremely happy though with the deal I got!! :) And I have never like a 59 neck pickup in any guitar I have played but I actually really like it in this guitar! The JB/59 is a good match.
I haven't had the time to get the camera out yet but my guitar is EXACTLY like this one...

Friggin' nice! I'd rock the hell out of that!

ESP's Eclipse series just rock. Enough said.

Congrats and post pics of your one whenever you can !

Congrats.

Take it from me man, the 400-401 series is the best of the LTD line. I used to own a few. I actually sold a ec 1000 in favor of my ec 400.

Very happy you picked up an LTD instead of the AGile. Hands down better guitar. Very solid put together, solid electronics, Grover tuners, Tone-o-matic, setup right out of box, decent weight to it, smooth neck, all around good guitar.

What you have in your hands is a more than capable, gig worthy solid workhorse of a guitar and down the line if you ever decided to pick up the real deal, you would then have a great backup.

I could go on and on about that line, so could Red Label. I believe he had 4-5 himself.

Cant wait to see your's. IMHO, you got a better guitar.

Fo sho! I'm always happy to sing the praises of ESP and Ltd LP clones. I've had two EC-1000s, four EC-400/401s, and my current Eclipse II. All were great guitars. The 400 series definitely gives you that great fat LP tone because of its body thickness.

Great score OP!

Obligatory pic of my former Ltds...

Congratulations man! This just proves that guitars choose the player, and not the other way around. Be glad that the guitar that spoke to you was in the color you wanted! That doesn't always happen!

Does it have the thin U neck? Out of all the shredstick brand necks, that's one of my favorites, right behind the fatter Ibanez necks...

Nice. Congrats, man. :beerchug:

I like that.

Damn, that's sexy as all hell!
Thanks!

Thanks! I'll try to before too long, its too dark and cloudy out right now and we've had storms everywhere. I just live a little over on hour from Joplin, MO that got hit by the tornado lastnight so we've been getting tons of bad storms.
Congrats.

Thanks man! Ya I really love it, I think its going to be my main guitar for a long time. I love my Michael Kellys too, but I don't think they are going to get played for a while. Lol

Yep, that's awesome.
Thank you!

Thanks man! Ya I think it does... it has a very thin but not too thin neck with the XJ frets, which I love!
Nice. Congrats, man. :beerchug:

Thanks!

Re: New Guitar Day! (well yesterday was lol) Not the one I was planning on :)

Congrats! Those are fantastic guitars! I had one and regretably sold it. I prefer the standard 4 knobs, but selling it was prob my biggest selling regret. I was huge sounding, sustained forever, and played great.. rock it!

Re: New Guitar Day! (well yesterday was lol) Not the one I was planning on :)

Very nice LTD. Felicitaciones.

Re: New Guitar Day! (well yesterday was lol) Not the one I was planning on :)

Basically, the thin U is a thin but very rounded neck. Not flat at all. Like a '52 Tele neck shape, but waaay thinner.

Re: New Guitar Day! (well yesterday was lol) Not the one I was planning on :)

I think you made the right choice. Congratulations!!

Thanks! Ya the 3 knobs took some getting used to at first, but now I think I am starting to really like it.
