New Guitar Day-

Re: New Guitar Day-

That's probably my favorite combo for LP-style guitars.

I've not tried that combo in a Les Paul, but it was money in my Flying V :bigthumb:

I took Ace's advice..for the most part ;) A pair of double black Pearly Gates on the way.

Re: New Guitar Day-

That's one of the most gorgeous LPs I've ever seen. Ace beat me to the punch with the PG suggestion. But I'd go a step further and say PG neck with either a P-90 or a C8 bridge.

In any case, enjoy playing the living daylights out of that guitar.

Thanks! :) Not a P90 guy (at least in the case of having only one les paul-multiples, of course ;) ), but I was giving thought to the Custom and some mag swapping-A5, A8 mostly. But I decided to go "classic paul" tone on this one for now. We'll see how the PG bridge works out :)

Re: New Guitar Day-

thanks everyone- surprised at the amount of "EpiLove" in this thread ;)

They're a working's man guitar. Upgrade the PU's, and you have a nice-looking, nice-sounding guitar for a fraction of the cost of a Gibson. These days they're constantly coming out with new models. What's not to like?

True Dat. IME with Epiphone, having owned 6 or 7 of them previously (I think this is #8) , and playing dozens of them, they produce alot of sub-par instruments, QC wise. Poor switches, bad pickups, poor fret/nut work, sub-par tonewood, bridges/TPs, neck angles misaligned, etc.

BUT, on occasion they throw out a gem. In this particular case they did :bigthumb: (well, barring the total sludgemud pups) I've been out of the market for 2 years, so I don't know if they have made a noticable positive change in QC, or I just got lucky, but definitely my days of buying & turning over high end MIA Gibsons, Hamers, Deans, and PRS are past me, and I need that good "working man's" value.

The Pearly Gates set should arrive today, and I hope to have them in tonite, or tomorrow, if my meager soldering skills have not abandoned my memory. I think some classic Brian Robertson riffs/licks will likely be the order of the day once they are in :D

really nice! congrats

Thank you Sir!
