New Guitar Day

I just wasn't getting along with the Jackson AS, so I decided to go back to what I know in a shredder style guitar. I found a killer deal on a used Ibanez RG420CM, so I snatched it up. Mahogany body with a cinnamon wood top. Slapped some fresh strings on it and gave it a complete once over setup. This guitar flat out rocks!

Cool! I don't think I've ever seen a cinnamon wood top but I like the looks of it!

Bonus points if it smells like cinnamon. :D

Re: New Guitar Day

Beautiful finish. The 5-way looks unusual too. Does it "slide", rather than lever?

It's Ibanez's typical 5-way for a two hum guitar. There are some nice single coil tones without having a middle pickup to get in the way. :)

Re: New Guitar Day

Just need to get a four conductor 59n or a Jazz for the neck position now. Then all will be good. I put a distortion in the bridge. Sounds killer.

What wiring are you going to do? You can easily convert a single lead HB to a 2 lead (plus ground) for coil cut and spin a split (I figured out a shortcut). Out-of-Phase and series can be done with a single lead PU (I do these to my P-90 guitars). The only thing you'd need a 4 lead for is parallel.

Re: New Guitar Day

Position 4 is the neck in parallel. So that what the need for a four conductor is. Will probably hunt down a 4C 59n, although the DiMarzio Transitions have seriously peeked my interest. Although over the past several years, I have not really enjoyed the DiMarzio "sound."

Re: New Guitar Day

Sweet guitar. RG's are a guilty pleasure of mine. Don't own one but I wouldn't mind one.

I wanna live with my Cinnamon girl, I could be happy, for the rest of my life, with a Cinnamon girl...

Sweet!!

Re: New Guitar Day

Ibanez have been releasing some classy looking mid-priced guitars in recent years and this is no exception. Though they should've had the veneer cover the whole top, not skimping on the forarm cut. Seems like a good spec regardless with the mahogany body and binding; reminds me a bit of the old MIJ 520 from the late 90s, which is a bit of a sleeper in the RG range and can be had for not too much these days.

Bet it screams with the DD :firedevil.
