New Guitar Day

Re: New Guitar Day

I've heard lots of positive comments about them, but nothing specific. Could you enlighten me as to what it is about them that you like as opposed to a high end Fender or G&L?

Having owned custom shop Fenders and G&L guitars my observation of Suhr (And Tom Anderson) in relation to them is in playability and feel. Suhr’s have a solid feel that I e never come across in Fender or G&L. You pick up a Suhr and it feels solid and playable. They are like a muscle car that handles like a Ferrari. In a way they are a better mousetrap.

My dealer also carries a Fender Custom shop stuff and they have noted that since becoming a Suhr dealer their Fender sales have slowed while they are having trouble keeping Suhr guitars in stock.

Very sweet. I’ve never even played one, but I’ve heard great things. What is the neck shape like? Are they nitro finished? Congratulations on your new axe.

I went to see Marbin (fusion band), and their guitarist Dani Rabin plays a Suhr Classic. Prior to that, he played a higher end Fender. I asked him your question, what made it better than the Fender, and he laughed and said, “Everything.” Specifically, he said he loved the compound radius, huge stainless frets, the bridge, and the workmanship in general. He said a lot of the specs look like a metal guitar, but it feels like playing the best vintage Strat ever.

Ok, now it makes more sense to me.
I love compound radius stainless jumbo fret necks.

This one has a UV finish which is a poly that is as thin or thinner than nitro but is more durable. Suhr offers nitro and UV treated Poly finishes and I have Suhr’s with both finishes. The neckshape on this is chunky, I’m not good at describing neck shapes but I’d say large C with a 9-12 inch compound radius and medium jumbo stainless steel frets. It is a killer guitar.

Dani is a wise man.

I have played a number of these and can. They are quite simply bolt on perfection and just another level of workmanship up from anything that Fender has ever done. Every single one I have played and looked at has been flawless and the fretwork rivals Carvin /Kiesel which is the absolute best of the absolute best I have ever seen. They are quite simply breathtaking instruments!!

I agree with your assessment of these guitars 100%. They are just on another level from say a super high end Fender CS guitar and you have to play/ hear one back to back with one of the really high end Fenders to get it.
I feel the same way about those as bolt on guitars as I do the Carvin Kiesels in the set neck neck through guitars just another level!

Try a few of Suhr’s set neck instruments
