New Guitar Day

Today I traded that hideous bass I inherited and $50 to a semi-local shop and brought this home with me today.

It was the only axe in the whole shop that I liked at all.

Setup is stellar, fit and finish are near perfect..

Ordering some straploks and going to plug it in!

Someone tag BTMN Gene. This is my first Hamer.

I yanked the gold knobs off faster than you can say go.
Gosh I despise gold knobs.

I'm going to order something in chrome maybe. For now these plain black knobs will have to work.

The flame looks pretty nice.

It's funny when you get a new guitar and plug it in and start to spend time with it.... Certain tones and certain songs jump out of it.

So far this one is screaming Anvil - Metal on Metal !!!

Cool guitar! Found one for my buddy a couple of years ago, no one had played it.

Dunc Deisgned pickups?

I'm assuming this is an XT flametop model. 1999 and newer(until the Gibson lawsuit) which would make these pups Duncan designed!

First impression, they have an upper mid grind to them. I'll play it a lot today thru different amps and cabs and see if they'll stay or get swapped.

Sweet score! I love Hamers. Have never owned one.

Does the Lzzy Hale sig model have a small and/or narrow neck?
The only thing I don't like about my Albert Lee is that it's made for small hands.

It's not as narrow as my goth edition is, but it's a little thin at the nut. Not quite Jackson thin though. This Hamer is a tad rounder throughout. Still, the overall flatness kind of feel is the same as my epi explorers, and I love them, all 3.
