Ok. Well I have some sort of OCD whereas I have to keep tinkering with my guitars until they are perfect..... I guess
Since purchase I have swapped both pickups (the bridge twice!) landed on a Distortion in the bridge and an Alt-8 in the neck. I pulled the plate off again just now and painted it. So now it's a pair for my natural explorer.
I think it's finally done.

My only beef with these V's is how they completely surround the dang volume knob. It's packed in there!
I could pull the neck V and Tone knobs out and just relocate the Volume knob.... I may do it too..
Luckily I'm no Gary Moore, and just mess with my volume knob to start or stop a set mostly.
That's a horrible layout, not user friendly at all.

Yeah, if there's enough wire slack, I would swap the volume and tone.

Sometimes they call you., i spotted my one SG as i was headed out the door after buying strings. I turned around and saw it. Pulled it off the wall and it sounded so good unplugged i just bought it. Actually i hemmed and hawwed about money. Then my dad who was with me said your not gonna fibd another on like that, then the salesman said we have layaway....but i didnt plug it in

Sweet V, if it were me, I would have left it bone stock regardless of what style music I play on it. More drive and distortion can be added with pedals. Having something with lower output pickups isn't a bad thing. 
Gotta say, the black guard does look good.
Bizarre Guitar and Drum is a good place. Sounds like you dealt with Greg. He's the GM, not the owner. The owner lives out of state, I think.

I like the black a lot better too. Less classic and more Metal.
You're probably right about the GM. I'm not down that way very often.
