The best bit is you can test the entire unit out of the guitar. So you can get it right with the screw length and springs. If the pickup is too high it will be a bit floppy so you must shim the plate up a but. Once you get the sweet spot you can adjust it all day like a normal pickup in a ring.
Take note ''FUtone'' because your idea of mounting pickups like this sucks.

Ha! Excellent advice! I will definitely fill in the mounting rings holes last! Can always revert to that if I fall face first!
