Ha! Excellent advice! I will definitely fill in the mounting rings holes last! Can always revert to that if I fall face first!

The best bit is you can test the entire unit out of the guitar. So you can get it right with the screw length and springs. If the pickup is too high it will be a bit floppy so you must shim the plate up a but. Once you get the sweet spot you can adjust it all day like a normal pickup in a ring.

Take note ''FUtone'' because your idea of mounting pickups like this sucks.

Also kudos to kramersteen for not only being friendly and helpful but also going so far as to produce pics and diagrams. Don't you know you're supposed to be critical and supercilious but never helpful? Remember where you are man.

I really like the idea and the design makes sense. I tend to like my pickups closer rather than farther from the strings, but definitely want to be able to adjust it.

Great! Just make sure you document everything you do and take some pics. Thanks for helping me refine this method btw. Most people dont have the balls to try mods like this.

Documenting? Well, I am an accountant by trade...lol Will do, and I think this will be a cool mod. I am going to check around for similar sized scews only without threads at the top to see if there is a way I can use like a washer/nut to hold the actual pickup plate together rather than take off some of the screw threads in your pic...but my thinking there may be wacked...

Ha! I'm glad I was thinking that through correctly! I am not the best with tools...would rather use a nut and washer than start taking off screw threads. lol
