New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

thanx for the solidarity bro.

Sorry but when I read this I dont get solidarity

By not having at least a neck pup is simply idiotic from every aspect.

And i stand by my reply to you saying
Also what simplicity man? 7-string, lo-pro with no less than 15 screws, active pup, battery + active vol pot... man, this is FAR from simplistic.
Sorry but I dont find Floyds and 9 volts complicated and certainly not screws...

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Ha ha, ironically the "lead" position (bridge) does the rythme tones best, while the "rythme" position (neck) does the lead tones best!
I prefer leads on my bridge pickup. Having a JB does that.
That said, I use every position a lot.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Yes, the Retribution is making its way down the line. They use a specially tuned preamp for more attack, clarity and increased headroom. Lower noise level and more dynamic response.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I've tried a few 7 strings and they make me look like a complete hack. That extra string just doesn't get along with me at all.

I'm that way with 8's, I feel like a moron trying to play that crap. I can deal with 7's though, but I don't own one or have any real desire to.

Most of my guitars have 1 knob, and I have a destroyer with just a volume and one pickup. Lol @ that "controls" diagram tho.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Hay Funk, can you pass some of that popcorn over my way? I don't think I can wait for intermission. LOL

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I probably only use my neck pickup about 15% of the time I am playing, but I would still feel really limited without one. That is what has always turned me off on LP Jr's and the like. I'm sure I could get most of the tones I use out of one bridge pickup, but I would still rather have both. I may just be weird.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I do that a lot with cleans and harmonies.

Neck & Bridge in parallel on shorter scale mahogany (LPs, and clones) gives this absolutely wonderful bassy yet distinct and defined tone for blues, jazz, cleans.
Neck & Bridge in parallel (without the mid) on standard scale alder (Strats mostly) gives the classic Telecaster tone.

For me, even two pups are too few. The mid pup can have excellent use on cleans in various combinations with the rest 2 pups. All 3 pups on, is also an interesting sound, but not smth I could not live with.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

I'm really excited for the arrival of my DCM100! Should be here very soon according to my local dealer. Pre-ordered back in June when Dino said it was for sure happening after the "issues" around NAMM and it not being ready.

Thanks for the update! Hoping to see them available soon? I'm extremely eager to try them out.

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Meanwhile, the forum continues to await the Astrozombie signature Jet King. :p

Re: New Ibanez Signature Guitar...

Back when I had one, I set it low and used it for "distorted cleans"

I managed to get a decent tone from the mid pup alone, only by using dimarzio fast track 1 in this position. But in positions 2-4 (N-M & M-B) and all pups in parallel (B-M-N), it can give *killer* cleans.

A question worth asking, is the Retribution a tweaked Blackout or a new pickup in it's own right..?
