New Items for the SD catalog

What would you like to see become a part of the SD standard catalog?

Personally, I'd like to see the Pearly Gates Rail; Cream covers for all the Rails, and an Alnico II mini-humbucker (if they really do exist).

What about the rest of you? We have the hear of the Seymour Duncan company, if not Seymour himself! So, sound off!

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

i'd like the Scott Ian Diabolo Humbucker as a standard. i realy like Scott's guitar tone and i think I#m not alone with this oppinion. bring us the Diabolo.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

I can't really think of anything new, (except maybe for more "rails"), but I like the matched sets that they've added. Should make it easier for beginners to select pups.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

A modern sounding neck humbucker, with more brightness, that's my main complaint about most neck humbuckers they always sound dark, although Duncan did an excellent job on the Full Shred! Perhaps a JB neck

I'd also like to see another modern bridge humbucker, there seem to have been a lot of requests for a pick up with a sound between the Custom and JB, that one's got my vote as well!

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

1). I think that adding the Antiquity line to the tone chart would be good. Even though they differ due to being hand wound, it would be helpful for someone trying to makea decision.

2). Adding the JB-2 (alnico II) as a standard would be good as well.

A bridge pickup wound to about 10-12k with an alnico II mag and slightly unbalanced coils. Basically, a hopped up Pearly Gates.

Anothr cool thing would be a slightly fatter, hotter bridge posittion Phat Cat.

Oh, one last thing, how about a Lil' Pearly Gates for strat?
:burnout:

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

I'd like to see a set of Antiqutiy Strat pickups with the alnico 5 Surfer neck and middle and the alnico 2 Texas Hot Custom bridge that did not require reversing the black and white leads leads on the bridge pickup and which did not require swapping the positions of the Surfer neck and middle pickups in order to get humcancelling when the middle pickup is combined with the neck or bridge pickup.

They could name the set after me! :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2: At the moment its my favorite set of Strat pickups. :)

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

I'd like to see the Custom 5 separated from the Custom and CC by NOT using the same wind, but winding the C-5 just a tad hotter....closer to a JB like 15.4 instead of 14.4 IMO, that would take the beautiful sounding C-5 and add just a tad more mids, making it the PERFECT A5 humbucker. Please do it, so I don't have to pay bookoo bucks for the custom shop to do it.

I'd like to see Seymour develop a metal threaded insert that could be included with the tremspaced pickups. The user would simply drill out the holes on a guardless guitar, install the threaded studs, and use the Duncan screws and springs, rather than drilling out perfectly good pickups with wood screws and a piece of foam rubber.
It's time to do this!!!!!!!!!!!! Before I do and patent it.

I agree with Lew about making all the Antiquites the same polarity so they can be mixed and matched.........forget tradition for one time only!

I'd like to see John Spina (Stratdeluxer) use his modded TS-9 as a basis for a new Seymour Duncan OD pedal, which could actually start a small line of SD pedals to go along with the pickup booster. You listening, Evan??

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

Joneser has a good idea with his threaded insert plan. That would make it much easier for people who own guitars in which the pickup bolts directly to the wood. I think Duncan needs more medium output pickups. There isn't a lot to separate the PAF-style pickups from the Custom series, Distortion, JB, etc. The Demon and the Blues Trembucker are really the only pickups that fall into this category. Another A5 pickup and an A2 pickup in the 9-12k range would be a great idea. Ideally, an A5 pickup with more output, midrange, and overall warmth than the '59 would be good, as well as an A2 pickup that was a bit more balanced in EQ. Not overly midrangey like the CC or overly bright like the Pearly Gates. Or better yet, just make the EVH model a standard production pickup, but go with the name '78 to avoid a lawsuit.

One other thing I'd like to see are higher quality mounting rings that will fit trembucker pickups. The little cheap ones Duncan includes with the pickup aren't visually appealing, it would be nice if they at least offered larger mounting rings like the typical ones most good manufacturers use.

They could call it the Lew-ser Set :laugh2:

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

HÁ!!!!!!!!
i had a brilliant idea.
why not make a pickup that you can SET/increase and decrease its´eq? as a parametric/graphic equalizer.?
it´s too much technology but i think it´s possible.

J.P
Seymour Duncan EQ Buckers.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

How about an alnico 2 strat pickup thats wound a little hotter? I know that there is an antiquity pickup like that, I'm talking regular production.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

I'd love to see more P-90 inspired options. The real P-90 line is a nice start, and the Phat Cats are a great addition, but I'd love to see the latter offered in various levels of output as well as noiseless options. ANd then I'd like to see all those options squeezed into a tele/strat sized single coil. Obviously, there are some pretty big technological hurdles in the way of making all of those still sound at all like a P-90 (and maybe it's just undoable) but that's what I'd like to see.

Re: New Items for the SD catalog

the pearly gates(neck) A5 rail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i love gearjonesers idea about the C5 (then i would have to buy one )i am not a big fan as they are!(not enough mids) how about 15.4k !

now the mounting screw idea is awesome my hamer's and robin's have this system and it works great!!!!!!!!!!!!

a zebra/reverse zebra rail neck pickup!

how about a slightly overwound vintage rail w/A5 magnets!!!!!!!!!!!
