I'm seeing ads in either Vintage Guitar or Guitar Player about these tubes...I'm wondering if anyone has tryed them or is using these in their Marshalls? Please tell me about them.

Re: New JJ 6CA7 Tubes?

according to the eurotube site they are a hybrid of a 6L6 & EL34, i thought the KT77's were supposed to be that same type of hybrid...

That's one way to describe a 6CA7. A term that is used to descbribe the 6CA7 often is: "EL-34 on steroids", a bigger version of the EL-34.
Although the JJ6CA7 is new, the EH6CA7 has been around for a while and pretty popular amongst the people who are looking for a slightly bigger and bolder sounding EL-34.
The 6CA7 is definitely worth a shot if you are amongst those people looking for that sound.
It is a direct replacement for your EL-34 (of course a bias adjustment is needed) and will offer you a slightly different (bigger) sound from your power amp.

Re: New JJ 6CA7 Tubes?

i ahve not tried the JJs but i do have EH 6ca7s in my musicman. They are essentially an EL34 builtto higher tolerances, so they can handle a higher plate voltage etc.
In terms of sound id say they have more bottom end than a regular el34 and more headroom.
