Well swamp thang is american voiced.
The Wizard is British voiced.Tightes and most articulate British sounding speaker it is.Definition and chunk are it's strength...Loud and really inspiring!
Would be in my next amp cabinet for shure! The Covernor is close to the Wizard ,but it lack some definiton and bottom tightness..Overall great ,but why to buy the 2. option when you can get the 1. one for the same price?

Re: New Laney, Now What?

hey thanks for all the help man. that was a cool chart and it was very helpful. the private jack sounds like it would be pretty cool too.

Re: New Laney, Now What?

Did you try the sound samples on the Eminence website?

Might help you get a clear idea about the type of speakers you're looking for - even if you'll go for a different company...

Re: New Laney, Now What?

actually the tt50 came with a celestion classic lead 80 which sounds pretty darned good to me. it's a very articulate sounding amp, with clear and bell like tone. i'm not sure at this point if it's worth changing.

the wizard apparently won't work because it's suggested for closed back cabs. i'm increasingly interested in the private jack though. it's starting to sound like what i like. hmmm, i wonder what it would sound like with vintage 30s.

Re: New Laney, Now What?

I own the Governor and it's pretty close to V30s...But i wouldn't get them..The Wizard is the Answer to your questions BarbarionBroBrute...It's more open ,tighter bottom and better Overall better tonal range...

Was that to me or to BB(BB sorry for highjacking the thread) yeah man, I loved the dark mids of the swamp thing and the "du hast mihsh" thump of the lows of the wizard. I think it would be a hellava X for my AOR.
