New Les Pauls! And tuner question..

Hi guys.

Decided to ditch all my Ibanezes, stop pretending to be able to play 7 strings and decided to get Les Pauls' instead :D

First up, Heritage H-140

This guitar plays and sounds awesome! The stock pups are clear and articulate enough for me especially in low gains and cleans. Acoustically loud and neck is a small C shape I think. Love it and makes me GAS for more Heritage!

Next is a Korean Made Greco Les Paul Custom(?)

I play Metal most of the time and the Greco fits the bill beautifully! Nice fat C shape neck and a flat fretboard radius that I'm more accustomed to as opposed to the small radius of the Heritage. Nice and fat and I think that's an ebony fretboard. I love the stock pups, tho the screw holes are stripped, and I'm using foam to support them. Smiley is there to hide a scratch.

Would be replacing most of the hardware on this as the gold is tarnished. The TOM is not adjustable, screws are stuck and the tuners are wonky.

Family shot! (Yeah I'm down to 2 from the 15 last year)

Yeah, I prefer pickguards off. I rest my palm there and hit them when I play and the cracking plastic sound startles me when I hear it :laugh2:

P.S
Anybody have any idea where to get replacement tuners for the Greco? I've tried looking for information with no luck and most aftermarket tuners require me to drill holes, which I'm trying to avoid.

Re: New Les Pauls! And tuner question..

Those are probably Gotoh tuners. If you can find the specs, you might be able to find something that will work. Try Stew-Mac.

Nice guitars!

Who cares about widening the tuner holes if you can replace the existing with something better. Those guitars aren't collector items, they're players.

Damn! I'm loving that Heritage. Good scores, man!

Nice! How does the bridge and tailpiece work on the gold one? Never seen a system like that before

Re: New Les Pauls! And tuner question..

^That Goldtop has what almost looks like a roller nut from Stewmac that I've been considering buying (for a Bigsby build). The Tailpiece is certainly a talking point though. Its like this car...covered wheels

I tried looking on stewmac, but they all require me to drill extra holes as most of the after market tuners have screw holes outside of the tuning head itself. The stock ones are in the small tuner itself. Hope that make sense.

You're right, but I'd like to try and see if I can replace like for like and avoid any more drilling. :)

It feels smooth, though I'm not the best person to judge since I'm more used to floyds than fixed bridges. Bends feel a lot smoother than on the Gilbralter bridge on my previous RGD, but that could possibly be my imagination :D

Its very easy to align the strings to the pickup coils and screws as you can move the rollers side to side. On the tailpiece, there are plastic holders which hold the ball ends in place. Kinda like how a kahler wood. Overall I'm liking it a lot.

The heritage is very light overall, but I'm liking the Greco more while standing up and playing. The extra weight really anchors the guitar in place and its easier to play.
