New LP Standard day

New leftover 2018 Mojave burst.. one of the last ones around. Got on clearance then 10% plus $50 off because of some ink on the binding and neck. Some elbow grease and alcohol should be all it needs. $1929 + tax out the door.

Re: New LP Standard day

So the backstory to the purchase.. I saw it yesterday in a local GC on clearance for $2199, which is GCs current clearance price for 2018 Stds. And when I checked it out, I saw the ink. They said their techs tried, but could not get it off without risking the finish. But given that it is on the binding, I am not convinced the ink is under the clear finish. If it is under the finish, that's a non-starter for me, but you already know how the story ends..

So today I returned to the store with an alcohol swab and was able to smudge the ink a little on the binding and the neck. That was all I needed to know.

When I got home I hit it with some stronger 91% ISO and it came right off.

Glad GC employs techs and not luthiers or it would have been sold full price long ago

I used to hate Cherry Sunburst. It's starting to grow on me...

I'm usually more of a plain top guy, but the muted color works great for me. Play the hell out of it and enjoy.

Yes, yes it does. And the BB Pros are better than I expected. I love the out of phase with them. They are voiced very similarly to the WLH I have in my Studio, though the BBs have more midrange, less thump and are not as open/organic sounding or vowel-ey.

I'm thinking I might eventually pull the WLH set from the studio, put a pair of Gibson quick connects on them and swap them in for the BBs. I'd gut the circuit board as I did with the studio, but it's a hell of a lot easier (and cheaper) to splice on the connectors than redo all 4 push-pulls.
