New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Randy's studio tone was absolutely dreadful (although I think he was an amazing musician).

100w all tube Marshall... the neighborhood is not going to be happy for sure...

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Bingo. That's the next Marshall I'm owning.

Partly for the nostalgia of learning guitar by working on Rhoads songs when I was a kid, but mostly because I love cool Marshalls, and that one's an 11.

It looks like a couple guitars are going on Ebay this week.

I knew you'd dig it. It hasn't ousted the XTC on the top spot of things to get this year, but it's definately #2 on the list!

dam'n you gj.. just... dam'n you! lol - someday i'll be able to say that about a nice peice of gear!

looks hot, and i love JMPs to bits, but listening to crazy train i'd wanna hear it first :laugh2:

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

That's one hawt amp. RR actually has a nice tone, it's just different. It really fits for tight, fast riffage and soloing. But hey, you know that live he used mainly his Sandoval V with DiMarzio PAF's, not a Super Distortion/PAF combo. Although I'd liked more a 200 W Marshall Major modded for Ritchie Blackmore specs. OVERKILL

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

I hated Randy's tone, but i think i could dial in a great tone into that with a GLP guitar. I bet it'd sound awesome.

It's about time he's been recognised by Marshall when players not fit to be his tech have sigs.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Let me start by saying I am a HUGE fan of Randy's playing. I have heard for many years, on many different forums, guys talking about how his tone sucked and so forth. Yet, with all the technology and advancements in gear and recording technology that have taken place in the 25 to 30 years since Randy recorded those albums, I have yet to hear any of these critics share any of their own recordings featuring the earth-shattering tone that Marshall should no doubt be paying tribute to instead of Mr. Rhoads. :biglaugh:

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

This is long overdue, IMO. I personally have no use for it, or space....lol, but as a fan of both Randy and Marshalls, if I get the chance to try it out, I will. I mean, come on, Randy was smoking player with amazing musical skill. He was more than just a guitar player. His live tone was incredible. MUCH different than in the studio.

Joe, I KNEW you were going to want to jump all over one...LOL.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Couldn't give two ****s about it. However a two Channel JVM, THAT's cool. Still 100W but the 4 channels one sounded awesome even at lower volumes.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

I've always been a fan of RR's playing but I hated his tone. Even as a kid I thought it sounded tinny and too bright. This being said, I'll bet this amp will be really nice.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

How can you guys be a fan of someone's playing yet hate his tone??? :smack:

To me, a player's tone is what attracts me to a player.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

well, i like his note choices, and i like his approach to his solos- they have this 'worked out' kinda feel to them. like frank gambale- one of the most monster players alive right now, but i can't stand the sound he has gotten over the past 20 years.

Cos the music he wrote, his phrasing etc were great. I wouldn't listen to hardly any metal if i had to like their tone. Ha ha.

Well that's cool, but for me if i like their music & their tone sucks, i'd still listen to them but of course great or even "good" tone is a bonus.

Re: New Marshall Sig Randy Rhoads head.

Who's getting the extra money Marshall is making for slapping Rhoads' name on this thing?

Because Randy's probably just a dirty skeleton by now...
