Who cares where it's made? Seriously? What makes British workers so much better than Vietnamese workers? If you've got quality control problems, you have quality control problems. This argument never made sense to me.

On the one hand you have a guy in a country with a better quality of life. Oftentimes, this worker is the one who thinks he shouldn't have to work that hard, because he's educated or just too good for the job. Then you have a guy in a third-world country--my apologies to any Vietnamese here if my assumption is wrong--who busts his backside every day because it's so much better than being back out in the rice fields, and the pay is twice as much. I'm making up numbers here, but the point still stands. Who's going to do better work?

I get what you're saying, but I think it's a little ignorant to assume the British amp worker is educated and has a better standard of life. He could live in a London slum and have a drinking problem. Or be a lonely pervert who hates himself.
The Asian worker could love being a farmer, but now is stuck inside a manufacturing facility with a prick drill sergeant boss.

I personally don't care about the worker's state of mind or social status.

I simply don't want to play Asian made guitar amps.

Just saw these last night. Totally excited for the 15 watt combo!!! Couldn't give a flying squirrel where they are made either, as long as it sounds good. There is also a rumor on the Marshall forum that the Class 5 is dropped due to a potential price hike to $600+. Take that with a grain of salt though... Anyway really excited for these, hope it turns out to be a good run for Marshall.

How is it racist to not want something because of where it's made? He doesn't hate the people - he's a discerning customer. Honestly, I prefer not to own them either. The American amps that I buy have a reputation for long lasting quality - the same can be said of few if any imported amplifiers.

Thats great, so you would say that you prefer American amps. Nothing wrong with that statement.

This is stupid, one can say I would rather purchase domestically and support an American job/company. I understand that, I support that.
One can say I do not want to purchase anything from a given country because of their poor human rights, government, evironmental issues, etc. Fine, no problem.

But stating I will not buy a given product based on the race (Asian in this case)of the people in a region or country of it's origin is in fact a racist statement.

I have nothing against nothing, I'm neutral for manufacturing country as long as it sounds good, I'm really curious about this 15 watter - this valid thought just made me wonder a little.

Companies like Fender, Gibson, Marshall etc etc etc don't place their mass manufacturing into 3rd world countries because they want to support those. They do that because with pushing down salaries and manufacturing costs while lowering market prices makes bigger sales at the end. That means a jump from big profit to f'n huge multiplied by speed limit on the f'n hyperspace, profit. Despite domestic tax tricks, banking hoops and all the like, after a long loop, at the end everything lands at the base company and the base country. All the rest is ideology
