man, i've been eyeing this for over a year. it's the martin D12X1. sitka spruce top and synthetic materials pretty much everywhere else. some may recoil in shock and horror at the thought of manmade material on the neck, fingerboard, and sides. oh well, to each his own. the stars were aligned since: it was my birthday, i had some b-day money, i had a 10% off at guitar center, and the guitar was already priced lower than i'd ever seen it. i guess i had a good store of karma worked up or something
played it various times at a few different stores over the year before pulling the trigger. and i have to say out of all the 12s i've tried out this one is my favorite. i've played the more expensive martin, a seagull, a guild, and a fender. but something about the feel and sound of this one always made it the clear winner. i love the sound of a 12 string. played it for hours this weekend!
