New Mesa Model

Re: New Mesa Model

The world is the dirty place my friend, and we love our dirt.

Honestly I can't get enough of this amp. It's so perfect for me it's like Mesa heard my words and built a custom amp to my spec's.
50 watts , check
Midi Control , check
crystal clear cleans , check
crunch channel for classic rock, check
high gain channel for METAL , check
Buffered effects loop, check
Each channel has independent EQ settings , check
Each channel has independent reverb settings, Bonus check

To me this seems like the very best Mesa Amp ever built and I have not even plugged into it yet. I have watched all the review videos and I just can't wait to go plug in.

I had the same thing happen to me when Charvel released the 2016 model Pro Mod's. For years I put together a build in my head of what I would do if I built a custom shop model , Charvel released that very model in 2016 in the White hard Tail San Dimas.

So if the Mesa works out for me I have only one last Custom shop build I need to happen and this is it

New Boss Gt series Waza Craft level Effects processor
NO amp modeling at all just a pure effects processor based on the Legendary Boss GT-100 but a full revamp upgrade for the most purest tone quality Boss has ever built.
A full Analog Drive section built in that is designed for Guitar IN and to front of AMP out so all your drive analog pedals can be placed in the analog world out in front of your amp. A WAH input with Loops if you decide to use your own Drive pedals and not the Built in analog models built by Boss. By using the Loops, you True Bypass all internal analog pedals UNLESS you want to insert them in YOUR custom signal chain. This section is fully Buffered for long cable runs so your tone is preserved.
Then a Full Digital modulation section the lives in your guitar amps effects loop. SEND and RETURN from your amp has a Loop plug in Fully Buffered to preserve your tone and long cable runs. In here you also have Loops so if you decide to use some of your own favorite effects , you can insert them in the chain exactly where you wish.

This Multieffects ONLY pedal board will have TOTAL control over any amp made to date with FULL Midi abilities for ALL devices with MIDI, a Built IN amp gizmo style universal designed that you purchase separately the necessary cables to control your amp, YES all of them. Standard TRS for those with 2 button foot controllers and beyond.
Built on board Volume control that you can place anywhere in the chain you want with TOTAL CONTROL.
Built on Expression Pedal with an array of abilities including MIDI for external Expression control of external effects.

That is the wild dream that I want BOSS to build but if they release a higher quality GT Processor with NO AMP MODELING and just a much better improved GT, I'm all in and back to Multi effects pedals I go.
I feel Boss makes the best sounding effects pedals as a whole. No one I have heard does a better job then they do. I think most companies try to copy and better on Boss designs. So why not have the company who basically OWNS the effects market build the ULTIMATE effects processor?

Re: New Mesa Model

The clips sounded really good. It's probably just me, but I generally don't like the metal demos for most amps, this one included. (Or at least the official Mesa one I just listened to) I know it's appealing to a younger demographic (yeah I'm old) of metal players. But the riffage and really tight, dry sounding metal tone is just not my thing.

IMO, the problem is that most amps set up to produce a good metal tone tend to sound thin once recorded and don't really sound right until double tracked and layered with a bass.

Re: New Mesa Model

In my opinion, you're the ultimate mesa guy on this forum. What are your impressions on this one so far?

Re: New Mesa Model

I love my Road King, but midi and cab clone make this sounds pretty damn amazing. I'd give up the tube switching to get that in a heartbeat.

Re: New Mesa Model

I need another amp like I need a hole in the head, but this one is interesting. Nice feature set, and the right power for 99% of the players out there. Good amp for the weekend warrior doing club gigs or a touring pro.

Looking forward to playing one.

I like what I hear. In the videos the distortion sounds big and open for a Mesa. It reminds me of the Electra Dyne, but different. I suspect its an evolution of the ED/RA with a little bit of Recto thrown in. A lot of people would kill for an amp with Recto high gain and a traditional sounding mid-gain crunch tone.... I'm not suggesting that's what this is, but in the John Browne channel 3 demo you can see the TS and NS-2 and it has the boosted Recto vibe. Not sure how much of that is the amp vs the speakers/cab, but I think some people will really dig this amp.

Kind of wish they did some regular chugga chugga palm muted stuff.

I hear ya. It's the second time ever in my "life" that I've really found myself wanting something that just came out really bad and, of course, trying to justify not buying it as hard as I'm doing now and being patient. That thing really ticks all the boxes. It's the high-gain tones that I'm quite curious about, since they're not based on the rectos much from what I read and that's still one of my favorite tones. These things end-up close to 2700$ (a bit over actually) canadian over here once you factor in the taxes so experimenting isn't cheap (and of course, no deal will have them in stock anywhere near here).

I'd probably be a lot more excited if I didn't have a gig playing bass. It's put a real damper on my guitar gas.

Still, I wouldn't mind giving this new amp a spin.

Yeah I get that, tools vs tous at that point when it comes to investing your money. I also had a bit of an epiphany to ight which puts a damper on my "god I have to have this thing" mindset...

My epiphany was when I finally realized (and accepted) that the Rectifier was the best amp for my particular taste and touch.

Yeah, after playing with mine a bit lately I realized something similar. The. I also realized that most of the interesting features of this new TC were also found on the multi-watt rectos, which are much cheaper used than this new tc would be...
