No it isn't necessary to get a RWRP. The situation with all Duncans is: in phase and hum cancelling with a regular single and standard wiring. Duncan singles are south and humbuckers usually split red and white to the north slug coils. If your Ibanez humbuckers are different, you will just have to rearrange their wires and/or magnets to be reverse wind and reverse polarity to the single. You can switch the polarity of the split humbuckers either by changing the coil you split to by grouding green and black instead (for Duncan) or by flipping the magnet. For getting the wind direction to be in phase if it's out, all you have to do is reverse hot and ground.

In my experience, a humbucker with a single coil cuts the hum of a single coil less than 50%. I don't even notice it unless I try. Clint 55 is much more knowledgeable than me on these wiring issues, but it sounds great as is to me so I just let it be.
I love the sound, and I don't notice whatever hum there is.

It is very much an "issue" with HBs too.
The point is that RW/RP singles have the same polarity as HB slug coils: North. If you combine the two in phase you will get hum. In order to fix it you will have to flip the magnet and reverse the wiring on the humbucker. If you use a standard single coil then you don't have to change the way the HB is configured because standard singles are South.
