hOT rOD pLEXI BY tECH 21. Made in the good 'ol U. S. of A! This was the stupid deal , introductory priced at 79.99 the other day, so I snapped it up.

Now I have five Marshalls in a box. I also have the Rocket Animal, Duncan Powergrid, Z-Vex Box of Rock, HAO Rust Driver. I still need to get me a Wampler Plexi Drive, a Mission Audio Crunch Box V4, a Carl Martin new 9V battery op. Plexi tone, a Catlinbread Dirty Little Secret , and a Lovepedal Purple at least, then I'm gonna have a shoot out.

Even though these all do kind of the same thing, they slam the amp at slightly different frequencies, so theres a subtle and cool difference, especially at loud volumes.

Heres the Tech 21 that just got here today;

Re: New Pedal Day

You gotta love a pedal made in the good ol' US of A, designed to sound like something from another country entirely - where's the irony button when you need it?

Re: New Pedal Day

You have a lot of Marshall in a box tones... don't you have a real old marshall anyway?

Congrats on the NPD, love Tech 21.

Re: New Pedal Day

^ Oh thanks. Yes, I have an old 73 Supelead and a 79 JMP 2203. The funny thing is, that every one of these guys is designed around a clean low volume Marshall, or demonstrated ( in the case of Carl martin) w/ similar DNA amp like Bassman Blackface.
Wampler uses a clean Deluxe Reverb amp to demo his Plexi Drive IIRC, and even that is gonna get some serious crunch , not altogether dissimilar to a Marshall , when pushed past 6 on the volume, so its a safe assumption all these pedals are to goose a Marshallesque amp into a Plexi voiced tone at lower than balls out ear splitting volumes?

Re: New Pedal Day

Wow, looks great and comes in a nifty tin! Ive been digging my crunch box V3, very Marshally through my low wattage tube heads. I'm the same way - I have a few Marshall amps but Marshall-voiced pedals are a good time as well. I agree, they all have a certain something that triggers some inspiration.

Re: New Pedal Day

Congrats! cant wait to hear your impressions! Do you do Elvis?? haha J/K

Seriously. Ive not heard of this one. cool looking! I really like the tin it comes in too! better than having the old boxes laying around. can store stuff in it or something.

So many diff ones on the market. Ive heard raves about the box of rock and ocd. How do you choose?

Re: New Pedal Day

I've never even heard of this pedal.. looks cool , let us know how it sounds.

for that price I'd get one if its good it is just that I haven ever really been impressed with a Tech 21 pedal so far and I have had 4

Re: New Pedal Day

I saw that Stupid Deal and pondered it for a minute. During that minute, I told myself that in the past 3 weeks I'd bought all 3 Bogner pedals (at good prices) and a dead mint 84 Marshall 4103 212 combo, and also a
quartet of Tungsol 6550 & 12AX7's.

I'm done for awhile, but let me know how you like the Tech 21 pedal.

Re: New Pedal Day

I just got mine in the mail today, and only had about 3 minutes to plug it in, but first very quick impression: :eek2: WOW!!!
